I want her to get into a US accreditted college ASAPl  so she can be trained as a sonogram tech.   Are there schools In Bogata that can teach this, x ray tech, bookkeeping  or nursing? What do they cost. She also needs English lessons badly. /can somebody please advise me on that. > as to costs, how many hours per week she's have to study, etc.  We may move to US soon, if she can pass the TOEFL English test thanks for replies.

What's with the crossed out text?

F-1 visa is for international students - plenty of schools in Bogota to teach her English - hire a private tutor if you want to speed it up. But this will not be a quick and certainly not by fall as you envision. After she has requisite level of English, then find the school in the US that has the sonogram tech courses. How is she going to pay for this?

If you want this done in Bogota, research the local educational options - you seem to be all over with what degrees to look into - sonogram tech, x-ray tech, bookkeeping, nursing. What does SHE want to do and why are YOU pushing for all this?

I thought you changed your mind and crossed it out, but agree unclear what the plan is.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

“We may move”?   Is this your girlfriend?   Student visas are nonimmigrant visas.

Nursing programs in the U.S. are very competitive, and fluency in English is required.   She m should start learning English long before she applies to one.

I have no idea why my computer crossed-out the text.  She doeesn't know enough about any of those subjects to reliably make up her mind yet.  I"m 100% disabled, so she gets an exra 11k per year to attend college. The reason that I'd like to know about the schools in Bogota teaching those subjects is I know very well  that she has to learn English and that it will take a while. for her to do so. So I'ld like for her to be training at something else as she learns English  We'd be using either the Fiance or the spousal visa to get her to the US. She has to have her Us visa to get there and then she also has to have her registered alien card before she can get the Pelll Grant, US student loans and this Rule 35 VA money. I"m sorry that I didn't make things clear from the start and I appreciate everyone's help

Both options, K-1 fiancée or get married in Columbia now and go with CR-1, take 1-2 years before she will have a visa to move to the US.  She can study in Columbia while waiting for the process, English and other classes.  How long have you known this "young Columbian woman and her son?"  I would be very careful and take your time, to make sure she really loves you and not just the US immigration and financial benefits.  Ask her if she is okay if you get married and live in Columbia permanently, and watch her reaction.  Your US $ retirement benefits will go much further in Columbia, so I would consider that option.

2 things to know

In order to get a Pell Grant, the student must: Demonstrate financial need by submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or eligible noncitizen. Have a valid Social Security Number.

only noncitizens who have DHS' permission to work can apply for an SSN.

at my age, 2 years is a helluva long time. Can I bring her to the US on a tourist visa and then apply for the K1 or Marital visa while she is here?  Thanks for your replies.  I can see why people come here illegally. That's an outrageously long wait-time.

No, because that's immigration fraud. There is no way to skip the large queue of people ahead of you, but it may not be as long as 2 years as things have sped up a bit recently, and there is also this option once the I-130 is approved (which takes about a year), if she's eligible - https://www.uscis.gov/newsroom/news-releases/dhs-announces-family-reunification-parole-processes-for-colombia-el-salvador-guatemala-and-honduras

I agree with the suggestion above to tell her you're moving to Colombia instead and see what her reaction is, make sure she's not just using you for a green card, as unfortunately it happens all too often.

she's ok with us staying in Columbia, at least while she gets her associate's degree (2 years). I should have made it clear that because I"m 100% VA disabled,  once we are married and she's got a green card, she gets paid $1600 per month, untaxed , to go to college, for four years. So will her son, even if I am dead. That's for 9 months of the year, not true during the summer break  If we stay married 6 years, she'also get 50% of my 50k per year (untaxed) VA and SS pension.  So I don't think that she's going to run out on me..  I'm the one who wants us to get her green card, cause she can't get the VA money, nor student loans/grants until she has that resident card. I thank everyone who answered (or does answer) and I especially appreciate the notification of the speeded-up process.

suppose, guys, I was to go to Bogota, marry her there, live with her say, the 6 months that I can stay there on an extended tourist visa,  and then have her come to the US on a tourist visa? Does that change anything about her getting a change of status and staying here, at least, long enough to get her green card, so she can get the VA payment for college and loans/grants? I doubt that she'd bring her son. If she doesn't , her returning to Columbia is an assured thing. She's a fine mother.

I highly recommend getting married in Colombia and applying for an IR1 visa instead of a fiancée visa. A K1 is more expensive than an IR1 and she won’t be able to work until she gets an EAD or Green card. However, she won’t be able to bring her son as IR1, but she can with a K1. Food for thought.

Nope.   That’s immigration fraud.
