LOL, it can pose a problem at times. Like when a dozen different people are trying to call me and can't get thru. But why do they think I'm on the computer in the first place? LOL Cuz I don't feel like talking.....I do have DHL, have had it for a year, but still haven't installed it. I know how to do it, just can't seem to find the time, and the inclination to do it at the same time.

My life has been blessed with the love of 4 of the sweetest men in the world. James, Jonathan, Nicolas, and Islam, my sons and my S/O.

OPSSSSSSS I DID IT AGAIN!

yay, one day closer to Friday!

Busy day at work for me today...granted I'm not there yet but I know I'm buried with work.

Hey Sparrow,

Where you ever able to hook up with your honey? I know you were having a terrible time with the connections the last few days. :)

Don't know how you handle it. While my hubby was in Malaysia the last couple of weeks, I knew that I couldn't reach him so I had to survive on a couple of emails he was able to send. I almost went crazy from worry. Don't know how you Egypt VJers handle it.

Yes, I did get a hold of him, around 1:15AM his time (6:15 EST). And my cell service at my house SUCKS so as soon as I got him I was like..."wait 5 minutes, don't go to bed! I'll call right back" and drove to the nearest hill  it's really impossible to have convos at my house because it cuts out constantly and drops calls....etc.

But when I got to the hill, all I got was the woman speaking in Arabic that the Egypt VJers are all too familiar with and it took another 20 minutes before I got through. I wanted to break my phone in half, I was sooooooo mad. Once I got him we were able to talk for 35 minutes :luv: (finally!!!) We hadn't had a conversation longer than 3 or 4 minutes in the past two weeks so I found out he now works the night shift (his emails are so short and usually just tells me he misses me  he hates writing!!) But now that I know he works the night shift, we pretty much are awake at the same times.

I don't handle it very well, my hair is falling out again! It's just so much better than it was 5 years ago and our relationship now is so much stronger than it used to be, so that helps. We've got our fingers crossed that he might be here by 2008, actually we've got our hopes up but I think that's the only way we'll get through AR/AP is if we believe we're one day closer to being back together than we were yesterday.... (so cliche, I know.)

I just pile on the work and keep busy, weeks fly by...kind of. The days are slow but I can't believe it's been over 4 months since we've seen each other because it hurts just as much as it did the day after I got home.

Divorced. To hell with him.

Oh, I meant to reply on Dells too!

You can STILL get XP. It's just limited models. As of right now I just ordered my 3rd Dell and have been waiting for it since July 21, but it's been backordered till August 10 :crying: It's a laptop w/ XP :)

I definitely recommend Dell--my home desktop is a 2002 Dell and it works just fine except it's a bit bogged down. I also have a 2005 laptop (well, I already sold it to my grandmother but I still have it till my new one comes) but its processor isn't as fast as my desktop and it also doesn't have the ram to run one of my video editing programs. My desktop doesn't have a DVD burner and my laptop does, but it doesn't have the resources to actually burn DVDs!! :bonk:

I did alot of volunteer work with the Red Cross the first couple of years. I was actually teaching some classes a couple of weeks before our son was born. It just made the time go by so much easier. I would definitely tell anyone going through the AP experience to find something to occupy your time...that is...if you want to stay sane!

Glad you got to finally talk to your sweetie though! :D

I definitely prefer desktops because they have more UMPH than laptops. Usually if I'm mobile, I don't have time to get on the PC, so desktops work for me. But it's definitely whatever your lifestyle is. But I don't think I'll ever buy anything but a Dell.

I have the day off! One quick measure in Oak Forest then I am done done done.

Today will be cleaning (too broke til Friday to shop..grrr). I am buying a new computer on Friday and need to make the office ready for it. Any suggestions as to a good brand to get? I am thinking to order from Dell. Deciding on 1GB or 2 GB....definately need a good graphic card to run SecondLife. What kind of pc do you all have?

Jackie (F)

Jackie, I highly recommend a Dell. I buy all the computers for my office and we only buy Dells. I'm on my second Dell now at home. Just be aware that all of the new Dell systems have Vista as the Operating System. What are you using now...XP? It's a transition. Are you calling to order or shopping online. I really recommend that you talk to a sales rep and tell them what you plan on doing with the system.

If you are storing alot of pics and other documents, I would suggest going with higher storage space (2 G). If you plan on ripping music CDs or playing games online, then you need a fast processor. If you are in to playing PC games (not online) make sure you get a high end video card. If you want, you can PM me the specs of what you need and I could recommend a specific system for you. But I then a sales rep could help you with that too. Make sure if you are talking to someone at Dell to ask what their specials are. They are always running some kind of deal. Let me know if I can help you in any way. :)

i'm quite certain the 1 or gb she cited above is either memory or speed of the cpu....2 gig storage as in hard drive ain't much

My father used to have a cute saying about a rental car, but I think it applies here as well: No bump to big, no curb to tall, my camel truck can take it all!

*snicker* I was in a grumpy pregnant-hormonal-lady mood until I saw this pic. Cheers WOM!! You have soothed the savage beast :)

Speaking of which, it's surprising to me that there's so many variations on the recipe for peanut butter cookies. You'd think it was pretty basic but I've seen them vary so much!

Maybe we can have everyone post their favorite pb cookie recipes?

:)

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.
