We received notice that the case had been received on 03/15/2024 and that the I-797 would be sent in the mail.

As of today 05/20/2024, we still have not received it. I have read in most peoples experience that it came in about 4 weeks.

My wife's 2 year card expires on the 26th. Not a big deal other than we plan to travel out of the country in mid July.

It is a big deal, as your wife won't be able to board a plane back to the US without:

- Expired GC and valid extension letter OR

- I-551 stamp OR

- Boarding foil

Questions for you:

- Have you moved addresses since you filed I-751?

- Has the check been cashed?

- Did you try raising request for missing notice? https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayNDNForm.do?sroPageType=ndn&entryPoint=init

Noa1 can take up to 30 days from when the shipment was received not sent, before you are eligible to place an enquiry to the Lockbox.

Not sure if your shipment was received on 3/15 as your post doesn't indicate what kind of notice you received. If it's been less than 30 days since the shipment was received according to your shipping receipt, (as that's what you should go by) you aren't eligible to enquire quite yet.

In any case, directly from the USCIS "Contact US" under "Inquires based on filing location":

https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/contact-us

"Lockbox

If you have a question about a filing mailed to the Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix, or Elgin Lockbox you may email us at lockboxsupport@uscis.dhs.gov and we will answer your email as soon as possible. Please include the form number, receipt number, petitioner and/or applicant name, and mailing address. Do not include Social Security numbers in emails.

Examples of Lockbox questions include:

  • The reason your submission was rejected;
  • How or where to submit an application or petition that should be filed at one of the four Lockbox locations; and
  • Filing more than 30 days ago and not yet receiving a receipt notice."

From time to time, it takes longer than 30 days however you are still elligble to email once you pass 30 days.

The top reasons for your issue are:

1. Moving near filing USCIS applications (not recommended).

2. Not ensuring all the names of the household are listed at your address with USPS. Your local PO can confirm or sometimes a little note in the mail box with all of the names of residents works too.

3. USCIS Noa1 delays across the board.

Email them when elligble.

They'll tell you what is up.

PS. Noa1 is the received date your Noa1. Noa1 comes in the mail.

Your Noa1 date does not come from an email or text.

Your timeline states a date that you would not know yet because you have not received Noa1.

Yes, I know its a big deal since her green card is expiring.

Answers - No we have not moved

               -  Yes, the check has been cashed

               - I have sent email asking about it

If nothing comes toward the end of June (trip is in mid July), we will go to the USCIS office and get I-551 stamp.
