Hi everyone, we just got an RFE for i-485 (Adjustment of status through K-1 marriage visa) which states that we need to send them a medical examination report - DS-2053 (issued overseas before we entered the US).

However, we were only given DS-2054. I’ve been googling it but I’m getting absolutely nothing from anyone. What are the differences between these two? Any advice?

RFE says; “Submit a copy of your medical examination report, Form DS-2053, that was completed overseas. Your file lacks proof that a medical examination was completed prior to your entey into the United States.”

We have medical documents via form DS-2054…. RFE says nothing about this and neither does anywhere online. Congressman couldn’t help us either and can’t reach out to USCIS about this.

We certainly did. If we had not, my fiance would have been denied entry! :o

I was just confused because you said you have the medical exam DS-2054. Did you mean a copy of the vaccination worksheet form DS-3025?

There have been a few cases where people didn’t hand it in the sealed envelope because the CBP officer didn’t ask for it and they were admitted.

Respond with a copy of your DS-2054 as executed by panel physician . Note in your response that is the only document you were provided …and indicated if you already sent in a copy at original submission of I-485.

Likely just a typo/data entry -human error …it will clear up with your response.

DS3025 Vaccination Record???

You would never have a received a copy of your actual complete medical exam as it was IN your sealed visa packet and you were never eligible to receive a personal computer of anything but your DS3025 Vaccination Record and your Xray CD.

How would they be asking you for that?

Please confirm the actual RFE request.

Post redacted if you can.

Why would I redact my post which stands completely valid? We did receive a copy of the medical exam and I copied word-for-word what the RFE stated in my original post. Is it hard to believe or something? Why would I come onto Visajourney after months of being inactive to lie? :) Maybe I am missing something?

Pardon me?

You'd post your RFE redacted as asked because that would help us better to help you.

It is very hard to UNDERSTAND why they would ask for a document that a visa holder would never ever ever have a copy of. USCIS knows that you'd never have a copy nevermind SEEN it because it was sealed IN YOUR visa packet and handed off SEALED.

Your RFE redacted will help us to understand the CONTEXT.

Your defensiveness is unappreciated.

I think you understand our confusion. There's no additional information I can give, as everything was pretty much already said. Not being defensive. Just a frustrating and confusing situation is all.

We scheduled a doctor's appointment today to get an updated medical form on US soil which is the equivalent to the overseas form.

Getting a new medical here is the way to go. Somebody screwed up with your packet and your medical was left out or lost at entry. I think it was left out and that medical you have is the one that should have been in the sealed envelope. We do not get a copy of the medical, you will get a copy of the vaccines and just the vaccines. If you have the actual medical someone dropped the ball. Since your RFE is asking for proof the medical was conducted before US entry send in the one you have plus the new medical. This way you can show you did have it prior to entry.
