I received RFE for I-129F.  One of the listing requested was  photo and handwritten date, place.  Do I mail them actual 4x6 photos or use Microsoft Word and arrange pictures like collage style then print on a normal 8x10 paper?

Thanks

You can probably just scan them into a Word document, then handwrite what they want. What do the instructions on the RFE say?  Do they say specifically?

Sounds like the standard requirement for any photo sent - needs to have a note listing who is in the phone and the date/location.

All of my photos were digital and ended up being printed on an 8.5x11 printer paper in color. In any case, the USCIS ends up scanning these photos into their documentation anyway, so the format doesn't matter.

Sending them individually is what I did, only because it separates those dates and places more concisely. During K1 interview, the interviewer sometimes flips through the photos briefly. If you inundate them with a bunch of photos on a single page, it might actually slow that process down.

At the end of the day, both methods you mention are completely fine.

When I mailed form I-129F, I put an actual 4x6 photos in an album.  They mailed the album back stating they cannot place in my file folder for review by officer.  I overlooked the I-129F instruction of not mailing photo in an album.

Received RFE and instruction said:

  • Photos (date and place Of the photo must be handwritten on photos).
  • Photocopies Of your passport and/or your fiancé(e)'s passport (including biographical data pages and pages showing entry and exit stamps showing that you have both been present in a given location at the same time).
  • Letters written to each other after your meeting(s), referencing the specific date and place Of your meeting(s).

I organized photo into 3 section  --> Arrival (8pgs), Engagement (7pgs), and places we went out (13pgs). These are single side color print of normal 8x10 paper using collage style and handwritten on each page.

Each of these 3 sections, I will also included receipts corresponding to the event/pictures.  USCIS already had those receipts and copy of my passport but seem like they asked again so I will give again.

The last request, I will provide facebook messenger chat printout.  I will handwrite any sentences need to be translated to English.

If mailing actual 4x6 photo, how many photo do you provided?

Will this okay?

Your RFE is not so much for photo but for evidence that face to face meeting took place within 2 years before filing I-129F. Photos do not show dates, and hand writing dates and places on them is the weakest form of evidence. Concentrate on passport stamps, boarding passes things like that show official time of visit. Itirnary is not great as unlike boarding passes it doesn't guarantee flight was taken. Credit card receipt showing time and place are also might be good. Hotel booking etc etc.

Interesting.   We sent no snapshots for the petition or thereafter, no RFEs.

I've been on this site for 12 years and I have never seen an RFE specifically asking for photos with a handwritten date and place. Pictures are not very strong evidence proving a bonafide relationship as anyone can pose for pictures.

Are you sure they aren't asking for the passport photos you are supposed to send. You are supposed to include a few of you and your fiancee with names written on the back for the application. I also have never heard of them asking for information on photos you included in the evidence section, but if you forgot to include or write your names on the back of the passport photos, you will get a RFE.

Op, you submitted photo album as evidence which they won't accept. You are better off using MS word for the photos and add descriptions to the photos. However, concentrate on better evidence because photos just by themselves are not strong evidence to satisfy the two year period of having met requirement. Good luck.

Thank you.  As mentioned,  I will submit chat logs from Facebook Messenger up to today.

I will re-submit all pages of my passport, boarding pass, Engagement certificate which had both of my finger print, witness print, and stamped (notarized) by the government, and receipts.  But all these they already had it when i first mailed I-129F.  So I'm clueless of what to provide besides listed above.

finger-cross, hopefully just a simple photo they needed to support the documents I gave them in the I-129F package.

It is part of standard template of RFE for 2 year meeting requirements. They are not asking for pictures together specifically but it is listed as an example of the evidence you can send to them to satisfy it. Was part of template for that RFE. "Evidence MAY include but is not limited" I agree that including other stronger evidence to show meeting happened within 2 years would be prudent.

What is this Engagement certificate? You might to be careful on how things are worded on it and it will not be mistaken for a marriage one. To the best of my knowledge government doesn't usually concern itself with engagements.

Another question:  on the Facebook messenger chat log, we wrote in our language.  The printed and translated to English next to the words.  Or, it needs to be "certified translation"?
