Case not set up by NVC after a month?

Hello everyone,

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We received our approval notice of the i129f on the 18th April 2024, then a confirmation that it had been sent to the department of state for Visa processing on the 19th April. We've heard nothing since, everyone else seems to be getting their welcome email/letter within a week or so of the approval notice so I'm starting to worry that we've heard nothing at all.

Is this usual or should I be concerned?

Thank you in advance! ☺️

First NOA2 issued the first week of March here.

Nine weeks later, we got a new NOA2 with dates advanced, even though we weren't even halfway through the 4 month window.

It's all at the embassy's discretion how long it takes, but it seems taking more than a couple months --sometimes quite a few more-- is the status quo.

We are now at 11 weeks, so..

I will add that if you don't have a case number yet, you can request it from NVC around four weeks after issuance of the NOA2.  This won't speed up the process, but will allow you to track your status on the CEAC site.

There is no welcome letter from the NVC. They will only send a notification when the case departs NVC to go to the consulate. If you want to know the case number sooner then you need to contact NVC and request that information.

we reached out to the NVC after a month to get our case number. Our case arrived at the embassy about a week later.

My Fiance get a letter from the NVC saying our case was sent to the embassy over a month and a half after it was already at the embassy.

so I wouldn't rely on receiving a letter from the NVC in a timely matter.

You're much better off submitting an inquiry to them, they are usually pretty responsive.

Ahh it's annoying not being able to see some consistency to figure out where you might be isn't it? Can I ask what dates advanced means? I'm doing this without a lawyer so I don't know all the terms 😅

Yeah I sent an email yesterday so hopefully they don't take too long to reply!

Nothing lawyery about it, think because of the odd circumstance you misunderstood.  First NOA2 was March through end of June. We got another one last week, exact same form, but the dates were advanced from May to mid September.

It's an outlying situation, so don't worry about it.  I have no idea what it means, other than potentially more time at the NVC stage.

And today we received the notification email that his case was going to the Consulate in HK.

Oh that's great news. They did reply to my email with the case number, but I guess I have to wait for the official email to receive the invoice I'd before I can start booking stuff? Congratulations on your letter!
