Hi everyone,  i dont remember the date of join which i mentioned in the ds 160 ten yrs ago when i applied for b2 visa. I remember putting an estimate but however now i checked records and found my work visa in Bahrain was stamped on 20 march 2012. My query is that will all the data be matched with my previous application as to what i mentioned ten years ago in the ds 160? And if there r any differences will it be an issue ?

Also my wife had a different surname prior to marriage so should i mention it on her application too when asked if known by any other names ever? Again i dont remember if i entered her maiden name in the form a decade earlier.

No idea what 'date of join' means, but in general if answering any question asking for dates then put your best estimate. No they won't be comparing it to what you put 10 years ago.

If your wife changed her name then it's pretty obvious what you need to put for that question... Her previous name.

So they dont compare all the information entered with precious application as u said ? So i cant enter whatever date i remember for date of join for employment? I just dont remember what i mentioned previously and i have been in my dad's firm for the last 15yrs

As you were told in your other thread, they absolutely look at ALL previously submitted information.   Just answer the questions honestly to the best of your ability, that’s all you can do.

So of the dates dont match with previous dates entered a decade ago will i be refused visa

If it looks like you are deliberately trying to falsify info, then that would be misrepresentation, and yes, it will be denied.

If it’s a matter of knowing the year of something, but not recalling the precise month/day, that would not be something they focus on.

Look, if you are not misrepresenting yourself and trying to get away with something shady, why worry so much?

The primary reason why you would be refused a tourist visa is for failing to show strong ties to home/immigrant intent.   If you are not lying about your intentions, why worry so much?

Also can anyone help me with the other names section on the first page? Does it apply to a different first name or last name previously , in our case my wife had a different last name before we got married. most indian women change last names after marriage. Also previously when i filled the form a decade ago i dont remember whether i entered anything in the other names column.

How can you not remember at least what year you started your job? Can't you find it from tax returns or payslips or something like that?

For your wife's name, again you just tell the truth. You put her surname now, then add her maiden name in when asked about any previous names.
