The domicile requirement is for the I-864 affidavit of support. I looked at the Foreign Affairs Manual that gives you the "legal" ruling of what the visa officer uses as a guideline. I have been living in my foreign spouse's country for the past decade. In my opinion, your best resource will be people in your similar situation interviewing at the same consulate. I prepared a bunch of documents because I assumed my consulate would be that strict but luckily they were satisfied with what I provided. Since you have no proof of current domicile, you will need to focus on establishing a strong case for Intent to reestablish domicile. You have young kids and school enrollment is a strong indicator. But most schools require proof of domicile within their district. 😬

Good luck! And hopefully someone with your similar situation that interviewed in the consulate you designated for the visa interview reaches out....you could also look at the UK consulate reviews here on visa journey and find a member who seems approachable and send them a private message?

Thank you for your reply and advice, unfortunately everyone seems to be following different journeys and I can't find anyone similar to me 😂 but I'll keep looking 😉

People are trying to help, as best they can.

Unfortunately, immigration is a wild ride and there is no smooth journey where your individual circumstances are catered to.  As many will attest on this site - myself included - sacrifice / hardship is all part of the process.  It's temporary, but it exists.

I appreciate you trying to do the best for your family.  This won't be quick or easy, but you can do it!

It's certainly a rough ride and thank you for the encouragement 😊

You don't need somebody following the same path.  What you need is the correct answers and procedures.  See the anonymous quote in my signature.

I use a virtual address for my U.S. Address with iPostal1. They are a physical address. You can choose any state and many cities in each state. Each customer is assigned a unit number just like an apartment building. My USCIS address is registered with this address. All my bank accounts, drivers license etc are registered to that address. When you receive mail they scan the outside of the envelope. If you wish they will scan the contents in pdf or forward you the mail. This can be done through The app.
