Is it advantageous to get married twice: Philippines and Online Utah Marriage

I will 😅. It’s just that I see people get married in separate locations like one in their home country and one in another and that got me thinking that maybe if we get married here in the Philippines we’re only married in the Philippines and not in the US. Im still new to the process and still looking into the fine details of the whole thing. I didn’t even know getting married twice is illegal.

People have to meet in person after an online marriage, that is required by USCIS. They don’t get married twice, it’s just to meet the requirements from USCIS.

Married is married.  If not, what a mess the world would be.  There's getting married, and there are "celebrations".  There are also proxy marriages, where the couple is separate locations when the marriage occurs.

A marriage is a commitment between two people to spend the rest of their lives together. Of course, things and feelings change over time but I would say it is a huge red flag that you are already concerned about being left and are scared of going into this commitment in the first place. 

 

Nerves are normal, it's a huge step to take. But you should atleast feel comfortable with the thought of being with your potential husband indefinitely.

Many couples choose to do an online marriage and then later have a renewal of vows religious ceremony in the Philippines to provide a big event for family and friends to witness and celebrate the marriage.  It can be a big church wedding like affair but if already married online it cannot be a second formal civil marriage.

 

It would be HUGE mess for immigration purposes too.  Worst case is the embassy could make you annul the second illegal marriage before they would issue a visa, which would take years and cost lots money in the Philippines.

If he isn't going to be moving there to be with you through the petition process are you prepared to have a long distance relationship for 14 months plus? I'm living in the Philippines with my wife. I applied for my I-130 in May 2023 and I'm still awaiting approval.
