USCIS timeline estimates are historically inaccurate.  However, I hope it is accurate in your case because it could signal that processing times have drastically improved.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Myprogress is wildly inaccurate. It goes up down zeros out then starts again. We’ve been at this since August 2022 and ours have been at 12 months 1 week taking longer than expected 4 months  1 week taking longer repeat. There’s zero rhyme or reason to it so it’s best to just ignore it.

We filed our i-130 application on May 1st, and according to the USCIS website, they're estimating a processing time of 4 months. I'm curious about the accuracy of this estimate, as I'm trying to manage my expectations.

Ignore it completely! If you search the forum you'll find loads of threads from people who've found it utterly useless and inaccurate.

Actually, what I meant was, when you log in to your USCIS account, you'll find a tab labeled 'myProgress'.

the site i pointed out says 35.5 months for CR1 (would be IR1 if takes that long) for Texas

certainly hope the process is much faster for u 2  /3 years at USCIS would be riduculus

Following. I hope it goes fast for you. Do you have any updates? I'm trying to decide to go with k1 or cr1

Do K1. If you file for CR1 tomorrow, based on the current rate of increase in wait time, you're looking at 2+ years just at the USCIS stage. K1 is much faster.

Faster for what? To enter the US? Maybe. It's not faster to get GC on K-1 route. It's also more expensive. We also cannot predict what processing times will be under new administration. It's much easier to deny K-1 case after months of waiting than it is CR-1 case.

You can never predict accurately how long your case will take.

For example, all estimates for my I-751 showed 7 months at the time of filing. Case took 20.5 months.

And it's not just me. Each case is unique and will take as long it needs to.

I'd consider cost, ability to work after entering the US and other factors you CAN control. Wait time is not one of them.

Couples could be together much faster, which is important to many. I also know people who went to the US on a fiance visa and then was able to get a work permit fairly quickly. The difference in fees is minuscule.

I do agree that we don't know what the K1 will look like in Trump's second term. In all likelihood, it will simply get much slower, but CR1/IR1 will also get much slower. K1s are averaging around 5-6 months total, while CR1/IR1 are averaging 15.5 months (and getting worse by the month) even without Trump in office.

If I were applying today, I would go the K1 route for sure.
