I'm sending a Priority Mail Express Flat Rate Envelope to South Korea. It has been in this status for a couple of days: "Your item arrived at an origin transfer airport in O'HARE INTERNATIONAL, CHICAGO, UNITED STATES"

Does this mean that the my package has been shipped to Korea or does this mean it's at the airport and waiting for custom clearance?

Technically it should have a DEPART O'hare checkpoint and ARRIVE Korea checkpoint, which is usually INCHON.  It appears that the package is still in O'hare.

Normally envelopes pass through customs immediately and there are no delays in customs.

Thank you. I did get this message this Saturday (5/11/2024): Your item departed a transfer airport in INCHEON INTERNATIONAL, INCHEON, KOREA REPUBLIC OF

I'm guessing the next step for the package (envelope) is customs?

No, customs clearance is done at Incheon.  You should have a delivery soon.
