i dont remember the interviewers asking me about my job and i don't remember anyone posts such experience either. What happened was, the interviewer asked me about my then fiance (the US Citizen)'s job. Which makes sense, she wanted to know if I really knew him and that the relationship was genuine. Infact most of her questions were about my man. Just bunch of quizzes.

i agree with the previous poster that you could just say that she's a model....but my concern is, you might have to provide her agency's name and all that. And THAT could be the problem. If they recognize the agency's name... (FBI might..) they might give you guys trouble. It happened to a guy I knew. He ended up waiting for his WIFE (K3 visa) for 3 years and was not able to visit her in her country either.

did she use her real name in the internet, or not? if not.... maybe you guys could just not mention her job? say that she's never employed or something.

i dunno...as much as lying is bad, too much information can be worse. It's a tough situation, I wish you good luck.

The consequences of lying in the visa process are pretty severe. They are going to want to know how an adult manages to pay the bills if not employed, and probably suspect worse.

Frankly, I like a later suggestion better than my own. If one could truthfully indicate she is self employed or employed, in internet marketing, or fashion marketing, that might be better than showing an agency name and model as occupation.

Truth can be presented in a positive way. It need not include all details. My wife's paperwork showed a company name and title as "manager". She managed a department in a large retail establishment. I'm not certain any understanding of her occupation was gained from reading her forms.

As for the moralizing, I prefer to treat adults as adults and let them make their own decisions about their life choices without adding any judgmental comments. That's not the purpose of this forum.

I just want to make a comment here, which is off-off topic - but oh well. When the poster said that they might want to keep it a secret, he/she got no less than 6 reprimands.

I don't think that lying is the way to go either however I also don't believe in a 'renegade' attitude. This is a forum and from time to time (or more often) the posts will wander off - it's the way it is. If VJ wasn't such a successful forum and there weren't so many people using it - then it might be different - and less, in my view.

Using Pushbrk's reply as an example "The consequences of lying in the visa process are pretty severe. They are going to want to know how an adult manages to pay the bills if not employed, and probably suspect worse." - is far more effective at getting the correct information across than trashing the poster of incorrect or no-so-sound advice.

I do not think this is universally the situation. My SO put on her application as "unemployed"... Nothing ever came up about it as she was asked ZERO questions at her interview.

YMMV

It's not a universal statement. It applies to the OP's situation. He's engaged to an attractive young woman from the PI. The suggestion was to indicate she was "never employed".

pushbrk,

Romania? But maybe the same concerns exist in that country as in the PI, I don't know.

I think I'd be consulting with an attorney who has experience dealing with the consular officers in Romania for advice on how to present the employment information in the petition and visa application, and for advice on how to deal with questions that may arise at the visa interview.

I don't see a big issue for the petition other than to be consistent with what's going to be presented and said to the consulate.

You continually introduce statements where there are no facts to support. No where have I ever read an indication that the consulate officer gives a "hoot" how the adult manages to pay there bills..... And if this was your experience in China, then it might only be in China.

fwaguy,

I expect what's on pushbrk's mind, given that he thought the woman was from the Phillippines, is that many K-visa applicants from the PI are or have been prostitutes. In the environment there an adult woman who claims to be making her way in the world without employment may well be trying to hide something and is perhaps much more likely to be questioned about it than in, say, the Ukraine.

As I wrote in my post, it might be a good idea for dbs78 to get his ideas about how to deal with his fiancee's employment situation from someone who is familiar with the 'climate' in the US consulate in Romania before deciding how he wants to present the woman to the USCIS and the DOS.
