I'll throw this one out there and see what happens. The structure in the first photo is an enlargement of the center of the 2nd photo. It is almost unrecognizable from the satellite photo. There are a couple of really good clues here if you know what you are looking for.

A nuclear power station? Appears to be a cooling tower in the 2nd photo, though it isn't one I recognize.

Not Chernobyl, I checked that one. Appears to be under construction, but haven't found any photos of nuclear sites under construction so far that look like this one. Don't have access to GE at work, but I'd need an idea of where to look anyway...

Actually it is Chernobyl. Note the location of the push pin in relation to the city of Chernobyl. The building under deconstruction is the sarcophagus formerly known as reactor #4.

Well, duh..I should have gotten that right away...it's Ground Zero in Hiroshima; the building in the centre is the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, and the T bridge was used as the bomb-site.

The precise Ground Zero point is in the cluster of buildings to the right of the Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall.
