Interesting note. The photo of the DAR Museum was probably taken before 9/11 as you will not find anymore of the blue mailboxes in DC. They have, as I understand it, all been removed for fear of a place to hide a bomb.

It's clearly not the White House, in spite of the resemblence (no East Wing, and the White House doesn't have any roads that close). Apparently taken around Christmas (wreaths on the right side. Obvously in Amercia. Beyond that, I need a hint ;)

It may not be the White House but it is literally a stones throw from it. It is the Daughters of the American Revolution Museum on the corner of C Streeet NW & 17th Street NW in Washington DC. It is across the street from the Ellipse in front of the White House.
