Hey so I made a little over 12,000 in 2022 and a little less than 13,000 in 2023. I have both of those W-2s but I do not have a third as my first job was in 2022. I understand neither of those years made enough for the i-134. This year I may be able to find a full time job that allows me to get sufficient income. How will they determine this year’s income? Will this be enough or do i need a joint sponsor?

Yes, I'd be searching for a sponsor. Not sure how anyone can survive on this income in 2024, let alone sponsor an immigrant.

To estimate this year's income you can multiply monthly income by 12.

Haha yeah I happen to still live with my parents so the income has been enough for me. My mom is willing to sponsor I just wanted to see if I could do it on my own. Thanks so much for the info!

Do you plan to continue to live with your parents? If so, then you will probably be fine if your mom helps sponsoring. They look at household income in addition to personal income.

If you plan to move out soon on your own, you'll definitely want to boost your income, even with a sponsor. There are some cases where people are denied even with a sponsor since they have low income and have previously been on welfare.

Assets contribute to income too, so remember to add up any savings you may have too.

Well I was hoping if we got approved, I could move out and be ready for him to move in to an apartment. I will only do this if I get a full time job though. I live in WA where our minimum wage is decently high so if i get a full time job I will make well over the required income. Does this sound okay?

Have you been on any government assistance before? If not, then you are likely fine. The i-134 is much less strict. The I-864 is much more strict about income, which you fill out after you get married.

Can your mother not help out with I-864 as well? Your fiancé/husband will not be able to work for some months. My fiancée and I talked about living in Washington or Oregon. Although, the minimum wage is relatively high in those states so is the cost of living.

Luckily, I have never been on assistance before and neither have any of my relatives :) Thanks so much for your help!!

Yes she or my father can help out on i-864 too, I’m just worried more about i-134 for now due to some countries being strict with allowing joint sponsors !

Argentina does not restrict co-sponsors.  So, if your parents are willing and able to sign the Affidavit of Support as co-sponsors, it might be better for you.
