I think things like this point out the total lack of understanding the GW bunch have. Some scientist observes that the planet is warming and everyone assumes that we are causing it. (Even though the planet has warmed and cooled long before we got here) So they say we must do this and that to "save the planet" and it turns out they make things worse than before. They don't think, they react.

Evidence is as solid as gets on this point, global warming is not normal. We each need to make our contribution to lower gas emissions to save the planet,

When you say, 'GW Bunch', you can't be talking about the unanimous consensus of climate scientists around the world. You're reacting to those who react to the scientific reports. Some people take things to an extreme, but they aren't the scientists.

From what I've read - its mostly in the US that there's a 'debate'. Then again outside of the US - you don't have oil company execs running the country's energy policy in the brazen way that ####### Cheney is running it out of his office.

Gary - if you go outside of the US you won't find a massive, convoluted debate about climate change.

So? That doesn't mean that they are right. Man-made global warming is junk science. I can show you enough respected climate scientists that will agree with that to blow this consensus idea away. And as time goes by more and more are seeing the error of their ways.

We've been here before on this, Gary. As I recall, not a singel actual climate scientist has declared Global Warming as junk science. It's just your imagnination driven by Exxon/Mobil.

not to mention of course the original article doesn't mention all the greenhouse gasses emitted by the auto manufacturers and petrol companies just so the couch potatoes can have that car so they can drive to the shops rather than walk. I'll hazard a guess that its somewhat more CO2 emissions than the farmers.

If the guy is going to stretch, he might as well go all the way eh?

The bloke who wrote the article was suggesting, as I read it, that the mass food production currently in place is wasteful and contributing hugely to climate change. He highlights this by suggesting that if you walk to the supermarket to buy your food, you're not doing anything to reduce your carbon footprint due to the likelihood that you are buying food from miles away, or food that is highly processed, chilled or frozen. I read it as a plea to change the way that food is produced and distributed.

If you asked this bloke whether getting on your bike and buying seasonal fruit and veg from your local farmer's market is better for the environment than getting in your car to the supermarket, what do you think he would likely answer?
