NVC K1-FTP Process for Philippines: DS-160, Visa Fee, and Timeline Questions

Hey everyone,

I just received my NVC K1-FTP on May 7th, and I'm eager to move forward with the process. I've heard some conflicting information about when to fill out the DS-160 form, so I wanted to clarify a few things.

Firstly, I checked the status of my case with the provided case number on CEAC, and it currently shows as "in transit." My understanding is that I can start filling out the DS-160 form now, but I shouldn't submit it until my case status changes to "case ready." Is that correct?

Another question I have is regarding the visa fee payment. Should I pay it now while my case is still "in transit," or should I wait until it's "case ready" before paying the fee and scheduling the interview?

Additionally, for those who have gone through the process for the Philippines, I'm curious about the typical timeframe from "in transit" to "case ready." Any insights or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated.

It's just a matter of a few days from "in transit" to "ready."

The DS-160 is valid for 1 year after submission.  The only reason some (including me) suggest waiting until "ready" is just in case there is some last-minute change you want/need to make.  Hopefully you already filled everything out and are just hovering over the "review and sign" page.

You are close enough to go ahead and submit and pay for it.  It will take more than the advertised 4 hours for the payment to show up as valid.  More like 24-36 hours.

This post is only in reference to the Philippines.
