Hello guys I’m new here wish I knew about this place sooner but anyway!
I’m from Portugal and my fiancé from the US we did the entire process and now just what’s left is my medical and interview!
medical is soon in a few days.
I’ve spent long periods of time with him cause I’m just finishing college so I could and we decorated our future home, got cats, we have a venue booked for the wedding. Have met each others parents more than once spent holidays with them like Christmas and Easter. Had an engagement party made for us. This for saying that I have a literal book of pictures and proof and we are very much anxious to finally be together with no deadlines…

I am extremely nervous for the interview and I just came seeking success stories and reassurance so I can remain calm until then lol

Our process was followed by a lawyer too.

We are flying together ( even if he can’t enter the embassy) to Paris in June for the interview.
Hope everything is going great for everyone here we all know how taxing it can be to just wanna be with your soulmate and have it be delayed

Hey! You have gotten this far, meaning everything you have provided has helped prove your relationship is legit. I have a close friendship with someone who has been part of USCIS and the whole process, and she says as long as you sound genuine and honest, it all goes smoothly, so, at the end of the day, you just have to feel secure in what you're saying. I do have a question for you! My partner is a resident of Portugal as well, and we just received a letter from the US-France Embassy in Paris that they have received our approved petition. I'm wondering if you two had to make your own appointment or if they sent you an appointed interview letter? ty!

Hey thank you so much for the reassurance 🙂 we booked our own appointment on the us embassy in France

you go to the immigrant visa space on the website and select the option to book your interview there will be an option saying “ we’ve received notice from the embassy to book my k visa “ something like that. Just be sure to do your DS160 first

Great, thank you! How far was your interview date from when they first notified them that you could apply? Currently, the earliest date available is in October which is so crazy to me

Why are you interviewing in Paris?

Paris is typically not a high-stress consulate for K-1 interviews, but if you're from a third country, there may be a little extra scrutiny.  However, from what you say, you have a lot of "face time" with your fiancé, and that's the chief strong point.

If your fiancé can't enter the consulate, take his U.S. passport inside with you to show the consul.  This can't hurt and may help.

Good luck, and be sure to report the outcome and details.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hello! We have our interview in June as well at the Paris embassy, my fiance is currently residing in France but is Portuguese... His birth certificate is in portuguese only. Are you having yours translated? Or is yours already in English as well? He requested a new one over a month ago and they are dragging their feet, so We are trying to determine if the Paris embassy will take portuguese language or not since they handle portugal residents!

Thanks!

Hi 🙂 my birth certificate is translated. When I asked for I asked for the English version and they just gave an “ international” one which mean it’s translated in all languages the cost was 25 dollars. I don’t know if it helps case he is in France but I got mine from the loja do cidadão in Portugal and that was it. I’m honestly not sure if they take a Portuguese one or not

Ah ok. Because he isn't in portugal he cannot get one from the loja do cidadao. He has one from 2008, but I'm not sure they will accept it. The portuguese embassy is dragging their feet sending the one that *Should* Have english on it... So we may just translate what he has and go from there.. His Interview is June 12 so we are at the wire as far as the Portuguese Embassy getting him the new copy!
