Urgent: CR1 maiden name on Visa instead of Married name

My wife got her visa today and her visa was stamped in her maiden name despite that the fact:

1. Her I 130 was filed and approved in her Married name.

2. Her DS 230 was also filed in her married name.

3. There is not a single paper where we used her maiden name.

My question to previous CR1 filers are:

1. Is this whqt they do and if yes, why. My wife went back and they told her this what they do. I intend to go tomorrow myself to consulate and ask abt it.

2. If we donot get visa name changed in what name SSN will be issued

3. In what name her Alien card will be issued.

We will appreciate every gudance. Thnx;

Does the visa match the name in the passport?

pushbrk,

I know the technique well, but sometimes I like to use the 2x4 upside the head approach instead.

Looks like you guys are too smart to understand it. I would not post the msg if visa matches her name in passport. Forget it, i can get my answers myself without you two. I am not interested in any answers from you two.

Talat,

Ahhh - now this gets interesting. You did not mention this bit of information in your original post - you are saying that her passport is also in her married name?

Hey man, I'm sorry. Nobody's perfect. That the name on the visa can only match the name on the passport is a given. If it doesn't then that is a mistake so major it boggles the mind. You won't have any trouble getting a new visa issued in the correct name. Just contact the Consulate and they should fall all over themselves to correct this supremely stupid error.

You guys are funny...My wife's passport is in her family/maiden name..All the paperwork/petitions we've filed are also in her family/maiden name. We were married but didn't "legally" change her name. I figure if we ever make it thru this process that somewhere down the road, when we can relax...We'll just change everything at once..If anyone sees a problem in that...I guess I'm screwed

ok, I had the same similar situation

My new conditional residence visa had my birth name aswell as my passport, and the green card

How ever when I applied for SSN I showd my birth certificate and my marriage licence and they gave me my SSN with my marrid name,

So now, my residence has my birth name and SSN, drivers licence and ID has my husbands name.,,,,

And its ok
