Hi everybody,

On Friday (Oct 4)  I went to the NC DMV with my Certificate of Naturalization and the updated SSN card to process my NC REAL ID card to vote in this election. (Note: You need to check in your State the documents the DMV asks for to process yours)

Today Oct 15 (exactly 11 days after the paperwork was done there), I received the physical letter from NC DMV with my  NC Real ID card,  this document is my first official ID as an American citizen.

Since we aren't planning to travel overseas this year, I decided to process my US Passport after the elections.

I wish everybody an expedited process.

Best Regards!

Maritah.

Elections may shake up things when it comes to passports and immigration. I'd apply for non-urgent passport if I was you. With 10 years validity, it's OK at least to me to "lose" 6-12 months that I didn't travel

I received the interview appointment today for Oct. 25th.

I passed the interview today. The whole interview took about 10 minutes. I was offered to take the oath right afterwards, which I did. From interview appointment to getting the certificate of naturalization in less than 2 hours.

Anyone here who has had their interview under the 3 year marriage rule? Wondering what questions you were asked and documents you brought with you. For us we have very little in the way of joint documents etc, we dont share any children, we live in his parents house so no leases/mortgage etc. We dont have joint bank account, but we do transfers to each other from our bank accounts. We had a joint loan early on which I have details for, lots of photos, social media posts, affidavits from the parents, school records for my children that he is on as emergency contact, doctors records with him listed for them, life insurance that he is listed on. Just wondering what to expect.

Is your I-751 approved already or it's still pending?

I'd prepare to talk about marriage, financial and living arrangements. Have all docs you have proving bonafide marriage. Do you file taxes jointly? Joint tax return transcripts for the past 3 years may be useful to have.

So I didnt have to do the I-751 because I got a 10 year GC without conditions because we`d been married more than 2 years when the GC was given. Yes we have joint tax returns for the past 5 years, bank accounts that do show transfers etc. Thank you!

You should be in a much better situation due to length of your marriage compared to somebody who married just a little over 3 years ago.

Good luck!
