NVC-Delayed Interview

Hi Guys.

I have a question and would appreciate someone with experience on the same issue to answer it. I am a US citizen; I filed for my Mom, who lives in Nigeria. As of October 15, 2023, her application has been documentarily approved, but there is still no interview notice. I have tried to contact NVC through the public online inquiry form, and their response was that they will schedule the interview when they have available dates or visas. I am getting worried about this because my Mom stays by herself and I have no siblings who can take care of her. Is there a way to get her visa appointment scheduled soon or to know what has been the delay all this time? Her priority date is July 2022, her visa category is IR5, and her interview location is Lagos, Nigeria. Also, is there a possible way to expedite the process at NVC?

Any positive feedback will be appreciated, guys.

They schedule interview based on availability of dates, she will be scheduled as soon as they have dates available

If you're documentarily qualified then it's up to the embassy to open a window, and from what people are saying there's quite a long wait for Lagos. There's a thread about it.

Hi illuminated, do you know where I can find the thread about it? Thanks

The only delay is just her waiting her turn in the queue. I think the backlog has reduced a bit now (it used to be 2 years or so for IR5's to be scheduled), but it's still likely to be a year plus.

You can ask for an expedite if there is a good reason for it.

Can you please give update whenever she gets scheduled for interview. I have similar issues for my parents immigration process. Both mom and dad’s got documents qualified since March of 2024, but no interview has been scheduled. Same US consulate in Lagos, I have not had any updates since NVC sent documents qualified for parent. I am a US citizen and applied for IR-5 visa for my parents. They said within 3 months they will schedule interview but haven’t gotten no appointments yet.

Sure, Vivchiny. I will let you know whenever I receive any updates. Also, let me know if you do receive updates. My Mom’s case was documentarily qualified since October 2023. I am still hoping to receive good news very soon.

I don't know if that was true. Did you see that from a post made by an anonymous participant? If so, it didn't look real but hopefully, we receive great news soon.
