You could always say you or the hubby have some dutch genes and therefore went the Dutch tradition of opening "some" gifts on December 5th :)

My dad was from the Netherlands so we always had a gift or two on the 5th, although we made Christmas Eve our regular tradition. Ill let you borrow my dutch genes if you'd like :)

As to those of you who still "do" gifts, being an adult and living on your own, only you get to decide when to open them.

Hee, hee.

Ahh yes. I used to work at a historical village, Doon Heritage Crossroads in Kitchener..where I had to dress up like I was from the early 20th century (around 1914.) Any ways, because there is such a German heritage in Kitchener, we taught the kids all about Dec. 5th. We even had one of these...

Weinachtsmann!!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Women.

We are so typical.

I felt like making mine now too.

Usually I just throw the duvet over the messy thing just before my sweetie walks in.

Hahahaha!

oh and mumzie gave me a crokonile board :) tee hee.. it's wrapped but REAAAALY obvious!

Ouch. I can still feel the pain in my fingers from the last time I played crokinole. It was a very memorable night at my friend's cottage in the middle of winter. For some reason we decided we needed to decorate our hats and wear them while we played. (It may have been the alcohol.) So we proceeded to attach his Mom's plastic fruit to our heads. I guess you had to be there.

 no that stuff happens when I play crokinole all the time :)
