Thank you for the coffee Carla.

Today I get my review and hopefully a raise. I have my fingers crossed. I feel like I have come a long way since I have started there and I really do enjoy the atmosphere at my work. Sometimes its stressful but if I could get paid a little more, I think I would be able to justify that stress. ;)

so I'm supposed to be an assistant in my department, not a personal assistant. (my boss seems to think the latter though)

She is having an important meeting and the Vice President told her I should go...to which she said no. I really think I need to be in this meeting. It is important to my job and if she retires next year, they might not find a replacement for 3 or 4 months and I will be running the whole show. She basically is just treating me like her beck and call girl. (taking her personal phone calls, scheduling her meetings, babying her, etc.) BTW, this is not a private business. This is a state job at a university.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Good morning!

Good luck on your review Sprailenes!

Oh Amanda, why do some people have to be so weird!!

Thanks for the coffee and the pics Carla, that's just beautiful.

We have had at least 1 record breaking low temperature this week - like 46 degrees or something.

Good morning everyone! :)

Carla - Thank you for the coffee, I truly need it this morning. That park looks so beautiful. How big is it?

Sprailenes - All the best for you on your review!

Amanda - The pain some people can be sometimes. I know how you feel, I've been there too. Could you talk with the VP and see if something can be arranged? Or might that cause problems more than it would help.

I worked at two colleges and one university (in Vancouver as a graphic designer & A/V tech)... I went to too many meetings.

They love their meetings!

Productivity was way down (for me and for all).

So I started to ask to go to less meetings and read the minutes or hear about it over coffee later.

My boss was always cool with that.

Never being invited to a meeting sucks the big one though.

Sorry to hear how she is blocking you from information.

Ask her what she is afraid of?

(We all know the answer...hee, hee.)

Good luck TheTreble!

Thanks guys for your responses. I realized this wasn't the Vent thread after I wrote it. I have to talk to her first to resolve it before I talk to the VP. I don't want to go to more meetings then I have to, but I also don't like being dis-included from something I think will be valuable to me. The best part is, is that she has had so many terrible assistants. (caught with drugs and arrested, etc.) I'm probably the most pro-active employee she has had so far and you would think she would appreciate it enough to invite me along.

Any ways, not a big deal. There are worse things in life , that is for sure.

Nev-I hope you get your raise, girl. You deserve it!

We are getting ready to put my partner's house up for sale.

We have been renting in town and his house is in the burbs, getting a much needed refurbishment (varying guys living in there for 10 years!!!).

I believe it is ready.

Now to get a realtor...

oh boy.

I wish times were like they were years ago.

What a time to be in the U.S.

The energies...

Good luck Cassie! And to you, too, spirit. Not a great time to put your US home up for sale unfortunately.

Ps-I spoke to my boss about the meeting and she said I SHOULD come. :)

Well I got my review and my raise, it was okay.

This is going to sound bad but I am not used to be told what is wrong with me. In Canada I was always being promoted and just always told I was doing great. Here I am told I am good but need some work. Me? Need work!? WHAT!? NOOO! ;)

I think I have become shy and retreated inside a shell here and I don't understand why. Anyways its something I have to work on.
