I commend you on not having a television, but you do have a computer. There is no way of being totally pure. I love reading what you have to say but you sometimes act a bit high and above the rest of us blue light special shoppers and target special seekers. I will not defend my choice of living to anyone. But I am happy with my choice of life and it's not synthetic, it's real.

Kudos to you and to what you do.

My mother is a minimalist to the T and I have watched her battle the man and everything else. I commend the attitude, but I really don't think its for everyone.

I seek connection, community, joy and peace.

And it is all in me! to have and to give.

YEAH!

:star:

True!

I have a question for you Spirit.

When you lived on a boat, when you had no semi-permanent ties (like being married, like sharing a home with your Husband) - were you content?

Wow.

Hmmmm...happiness for me, is so ethereal.

Moments of joy are like the wind.

They come and pass right into and through you and then off they go.

Hee, hee.

This must be ancient Greek philosopher genes talking.

I'll go with it. :D

I liked having no one to answer to but myself.

I liked creating each and every day how i saw fit.

I liked the feeling and the understanding of my place in that community.

Both at the wharf when I lived there and on that Gulf Island in BC (where I lived for a year).

I understood "the code" and it made sense to me.

Living in the big city has no code....well, not a code I agree with.

It is eat of be eaten.

It is move over I am coming.

The kind of selfish acts I do not like to be around.

I thought I was a "city girl" having been born and raised in Montreal.

And then moving onto boats and then that rural, quiet island and back to the wharf again, I discovered that I am not.

Have I even answered the question?

hahaha

I believed I would never marry (commit) to anyone again 2 years ago....exactly 2 years ago. Ha!

(I was content to "date" when I felt like it. Associate and connect with people of all walks of life all over the place.)

That the only what to be in life was to walk your path and if someone was to be walking the same direction we would walk together for as long as it was what we both wanted.

Know what I mean by this?

And so, my sweetie turned up and loved what he saw and engaged me into this path and now, well, is he does not truly want to follow the path less travelled with me as he had so enthusiastically told me, then so be it.

Time will tell.

I am in no hurry.

(Me and my long responses.... :P )

How do you think you will manage the concept of community if you do not get attached to people and can leave them on a whim?

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

I completely agree.

And I am sorry to make anyone feel like I am on some higher plane than anyone else.

I have great struggles.

They are just different from the general populace.

I battle my own demons every day!

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Every one is my soul mate....even if for a moment.

We are all connected.

All one.

And so...ideally this would be so easy.

I long for people and places at times and then....I am okay wherever I am.

It is up and down.

I have not yet reached satori!

Ha!

Life is to be experienced.

No expectations.

No attachment to outcome.

Keep updating.

Do not become complacent.

Be your best...do your best.

I agree that we are all connected by a set of factors.

However, if you do not set up camp and stay for periods of time, I don't see how you can fully receive the concept of community. Communities are built with a group of organisms who are brought together by various things. A community is in search for cohesiveness. Cohesiveness takes time. If you do not stay, you really are on the outside of it all.

To say you are an individualist is one thing, and that you follow your own path. But then to say you want a sense of community, in my opinion, is almost saying the opposite.

When I was 2 my mother moved to a commune. I grew up with a very free thinking, free spirited parent. She had this attitude of not attaching herself anything because she felt it weighed her down in life. If we moved and it didn't fit into the trunk of our car, it wasn't coming with us. My mother also has this weird thing, if you tell her you like something, she'll give it to you. I have seen her give many MANY watches away, to the point where she just won't wear one now.

People would compliment it and she would give it. Maybe its a native trait as we were known to do that a long time ago. I have watched my mom give clothes away and everything else because people have complimented it.

Spirit, I think you and my mom would be bff's. :D

Hi guys. Haven't heard squat from the Starbucks people :(

Second interview was Thursday and they have not called.... I guess I'm not Starbucks material. Should I give them one more day and then call or whatcha'll think?

Hi Len,

I don't think it would be out of line to call them now.

But what do I say? I am so lame.

I normally say - hi, it's <me>, I interviewed with you last <whenever> for the barista position and I was just wondering if you have made a decision yet?
