I find coffee too acidic first thing in the morning as well. I have my tea in the morning, breakfast and then coffee. No problems then!

Hmm - tenured hotties - I certainly prefer that! Unfortunately, it reminded me of a video I received this morning - Old Naked Ladies for Peace! Yep - here is the link:

hehehehe - great message and definitely a fun presentation!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

That is sweet and pointed. Nicely done Krikit!

Trailmix, I have figured out something.

Sometimes when one tries something new, they don't like it at first.

Then they get adapted to it, and even think they like it a lot.

And so if anything changes or veers from that taste, ya go :P (bleh!).

So, what am I trying to say....

please make the switch to something natural (like milk or cream or soymilk - vanilla is quite yummy soymilk in coffee), and take care of your colon.

Bahahaha!!!

Ahem.

It seems quite a few people around me have had to have their colons cleaned out lately.

Too much processed foods....

Anyhoo,

You know when people post old articles about women in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant etc etc, well I spotted this in the Sentinel this morning and it reminded me of those old time articles:

Jeans mean trouble?

Q: I am curious as to your opinion on jeans. I think the color is rather boring and doesn't really match with the full rainbow of colors. I also feel jeans destroy femininity and emphasize the faults of the feminine figure. Jeans encourage women to behave manly, fighting and using bad language and sitting and standing in ways inappropriate. Women were meant to civilize men, not imitate them. If women gave up jeans, they would be more favorably looked upon and treated more respectfully.

Is price the reason women buy jeans? Do they wear jeans out of laziness? Or because it makes them feel younger? Or because jeans require less laundering and care than finer attire? Am I completely wrong?

A: This is probably not the answer you hoped for, but here goes: I am a big jeans fan. I like the no-nonsense denim fabric, the many shades of blue, the top-stitch detailing. I also like the versatility of jeans and their all-American vibe.

However, to look truly attractive, I also think they have to be the right jeans. The fit should be neither too tight nor too loose, and the style should suit the figure type. And with the right accessories, jeans can look feminine.

I disagree that wearing jeans inclines women to fighting and swearing. For that matter, I don't think fighting and swearing make men "manly." It makes men (and women) boorish — and that is a reflection of who they are, not what they wear.

As for the price of jeans, that can vary from a couple of dollars at a thrift store to several hundred dollars at a trendy boutique. So I doubt price motivates women to buy jeans. More likely it's the look, versatility and durability. And in some cases, the designer label.

Do we wear jeans out of laziness? Sometimes. Jeans really are the ultimate no-fuss, no-muss garments. To look more youthful? Probably. Because jeans require less care? Definitely.

But are you completely wrong? No. Women wearing ill-fitting jeans can look frightful. And you are right that a pretty dress is the ultimate in feminine attire.

In the end, though, beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.

As for that article...WOW!

There are too many people out there still trying to domesticate women.

Be gone all of you misogynists!

I'm so there.

Not necessarily about jeans per se, I just cannot wear things that are not super casual.

My sweetie had been telling me about this "ball" he goes to each year.

He wears a tux!

And so...

That time was coming around and I looked at him and said, "How would you feel about me wearing my pirate clothes to the ball?"

(They are beautiful and somewhat expensive...not tattered.)

He gasped.

So I added, "I won't wear the hat, or the cutlass."

See, a little background info here:

an other sailing friend (an older wiser soul), joked about this with me, saying that the women there would be envious that I could do something like that.

Perhaps, and that would not be my intention; I am just comfortable in something like that and not in some gown or something equally not me.

We laughed a lot about this idea.

So back to the conversation at home (a month ago or so):

Finally he said that he saw my mind was made up and so...

He was squirming though.

I told him spending money on a fancy shmancy dress and possibly shoes for one evening was not my idea of living.

I am truly not comfortable in this realm.

And so, he was still squirming.

I asked if there were tuxedos for women I could rent or create.

He laughed saying he didn't know, and liked that idea.

Cut to a few weeks ago:

Guess what?

His sis is performing (singing) on that same night, and we would like to go to that instead.

(Unfortunately it is also the VJ meetup in Chicago too that same night....why why why do these things happen?) hahaha!

Funny how if you just let the universe handle it, it goes well.

Jeans are one of the best inventions ever. They are very versatile and you can dress them up or dress them down. The article writer probably is one of those ladies who wears old, unattractive suits and has time to shop for lots of feminine things.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

I am a huge fan of jeans (and not only because they're one of the few kinds of bottoms that can be found in my size!). Stretchy, skinny, flared, light, dark, ripped, all sorts. There are styles for everyone, which is why they're so great! ^_^

Happy Friday everyone!

1896384215_0306d4859b.jpg

I'm so tired of all the phone calls I've received during the day during this countdown to November 4th. I've NEVER received so many political calls! Actually, I don't remember getting any political calls when I lived in Canada. Is this something unique to the U.S.? I do remember tons of visitors in Canada. People campaigning door to door. I had one person come to the door just last week, and while I told him that I can't vote, I did say that I appreciated the effort to talk to people face to face instead of sending me a voice recording. We had a good talk, and I had a lot to say. :hehe:

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

i even got a cal form michelle obabma!! sweet, lol ya,every night we get at least 1 call from someone!! quite annoying

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I used to get lots of phone calls in Canada around election time. I ususally got at least four on the day of the election from campaign offices asking if I had voted yet. One year, my car was in the shop so I told the first party that called that I wanted to vote for them but I had no transportation. They picked me up.

Maybe it's a regional thing. I lived in Kitchener-Waterloo.
