My work turns the simplest things into such big issues.

Its hilarious watching some of it from the sidelines. Ahh working with women, never gets old.

Some people thrive on stress and drama.

It's too bad so sad... for them.

Oh and for everyone that has to be near them, too.

Morning all!! Spoke with the "newlyweds" yesterday.. they found a place in TO.. don't think I've ever heard a new wife sound so bummed.. no room for "romance" thus far apparently

I must have missed that they got married! Wow! They're living in TO instead of PEI? Do they even have jobs there?

Yes to TO, no jobs..

she contacted me a week or so ago to ask for custom house address again cause she had to get all her money out of Japan "fast" (I could only assume from that that they needed $$ to survive). *sigh.... rough start for 2 "lovebirds".

Wow, I wish them luck. They're going to need it. What a way to start a marriage! You've mentioned a few times she's from Japan. Is she Japanese or was she a Canadian working in Japan? I ask because I assume at some point if she's not Canadian, they're going to have to deal with immigration? Yikes...

Yep. no she's gotta do immigration. I asked if they had submitted their paperwork yet (they were married the end of Sept), and she said they weren't there yet.

They seem to think that their lives post marriage would be all gumdrops & lollipops.. she said yesterday the "reality" of the situation was starting to sink in :bonk:

Okay, should I even say it?

Oooouuu I don't like to sound so cynical.

How much time do you give them?

(I imagine when her money runs out and they start to starve and get cold. Depending on where she was from Japan, she might not know real Winter.)

I really hope that this is what she wants.. i really don't want to see her hurt.. but it's hard to remain positive.. it truly is.. esp. when 2 weeks after the wedding SHE has very little positive to say.. *sigh.. so hard to watch, but I truly did everything in my power to ask her to reconsider.. this is a choice she made.

I, personally, love the Canadian forum and you guys!! :luv:

I'm married to a Brit and you put up with me posting here. I've never felt unwelcome. The way I look at it is that its their loss if they choose not to come back.

Thanks julez!

On the flip side I must say that about a month ago I went to the brit forum and posted something and no one responded to me at all.

I waited for responses..no dice :(

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

The UK forum is pretty hit and miss for some reason. And not as active as the Canadian forum. Sorry you didn't get a response. :( Anything I can help you with now?

ETA: I just saw your topic and I then checked the Brits in the US thread and while there are some members listed as living in NJ, none are active posters to my knowledge. There are tons in CA! Or NYC. Most of our active people are in CA. I'm in Buffalo. I would love to do a meetup, but there's not many around me. Though I did meet a VJ US/UK couple from Rocester in August and my hubs and I will be having dinner with them nest Tues after their AOS interview.

I love that you post here, Julez!

I've stopped posting in the UK OT Forum. I felt the same way, Treble. There are some who know each other, personally, so it seems that thread is now just used as their chat thread. Not that there's anything wrong with that.... it's just that they chat amongst themselves and ignore the other posters. I pretty much stay out of the regular Off Topic Forum now, too. Can't find anything interesting sticking out between all the political threads, so there's really not much point in going in there.

Thanks, guys.

I've always loved Canada and Canadians in general. Maybe due to my lifelong close proximity to Canada? Many of my favorite bands are Canadian! I even can sing along with the Canadian national anthem at the hockey games! :P

But Krikit, I know what you mean about the UK OT thread. There's so many out in CA now and they get together and so do tend to chat amongst themselves. Its a bit sad, so that's kinda why I followed you here. You guys are always so chatty and friendly. Its a nice place to be!

WORD.

In other news, I had my Starbucks first interview yesterday and it was easy breezy beautiful. Turns out they put you through TWO -yes, you heard right- TWO interviews  so I have to go there tomorrow again. Oh well, a gir's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. I have been reading blogs and the like about working there, and opinions are divided, big time. I have no idea how much they pay. I did have to email my Second Cup boss in shame to tell him ..... I am sure he will have THE giggle of the day.
