Good morning everyone! Back to the trenches I am. Wow, there is a lot happening in the Canada forum, some good, some bad. (F)(L):(:)

Hugs all around...

Had a fabulous time in Indianapolis and I'm energized to begin working on way too many things at once! What an inspiring and encouraging conference. I'm motivated at present, so must get busy with all the ideas I have!

Here's coffee this morning.

Welcome back Carla, glad the conference was such a success!

We finally got a 5 gallon jug of water for our cooler, picked it up a Albertsons on Saturday. Best part is that they couldn't figure out how to charge the deposit so we didn't have to pay it

Water is is really expensive compared to Calgary. I had it delivered - five x 5 gallon jugs for like 26 dollars a month there. Here it will be around 38 dollars. Even the store ones are $6.99 - I think they were $ 4 plus change in Calgary.

Good Morning All.

The only thing I know about red velvet is underwear. :D

The only thing I know about sofas, is I did not need one when I lived on a boat.

The only thing I know about W is, it must be hard to grow up with a silver spoon in your mouth and nannies as your parents.

I have sailed with one old man that grew up like this....I delivered his yacht from Southern Mass to DownEast Maine.

His "country house" was a mansion I got lost in. No lie.

And lemme tell ya, that at 67, he was as dysfunctional as a 3 year old (or so).

Being rich has a huge price.

I wish a working class person could run for prez.

As it is you need many millions....too bad, so sad.

Enough of that crapola...here is something I found recently:

CRISIS, Danger or opportunity?

In Chinese the word "crisis" contains two symbols, danger & opportunity.

Check that out!

I absolutely dislike snobs. <_<

Some people need to get over themselves.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

First of all, we weren't looking for a recliner sofa, that's just the way it worked out. But here are the two scenarios:

Sofa A - The fabric we would get it in is a tan color, but here it is in a dark brown - also it looks leatherish in the picture - it is microfibre. Not really pretty, but really comfortable - my concern with this one is that it's not as well made as Sofa B.

Sofa B - Quite pretty for a recliner sofa, but maybe i'm too tall for it or something because when I recline it back my head is not supported.

Just for comparison - this is probably more like something we would normally buy (as long as the cushions were attached, I prefer a non-cushion back actually - where it is all just one-piece-ish):

Hi Trailmix...I've had sofa B for nearly 3 months now. It is very comfortable. Like you, I prefer sofa C the most, but having just disposed of a pillow-back sofa that my 3 kids trashed, we went for the sensible recliner sofa and matching loveseat. This way if they want to lay down, the don't have to fight over the sofa any more. They all can due to the magic of reclining! I haven't had a problem with head support, but as Krikit pointed out, that can be easily remedied with a pillow.

Good luck with your sofa shopping!

Congrats!!! I had a starbucks today on ur behalf, lol was ok!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Good luck len!

Trailmix-Get Sofa B!! My mother in law just got that microfibre stuff and it is SO comfortable. PLUS-any stains come RIGHT out with just some water and a dab of a cloth. It is great. I want it.

It's a Canada Day cake!!! Good job, E. Well done. *pats back*

Krikit,

Reinsurance companies insure the insurance companies. This allows the insurance companies to mitigate their risk and meet more of thier claims obligations. They tend to operate out of countries that have lower taxes to keep operating costs down. The ones here focus on disaster insurance. If it weren't for them, insurance premiums for people living in hurricane prone areas would be much, much higher.

~ Catherine

But who insures the reinsurance companies? :hehe:

Thanks for the explanation, Catherine.

Morning Canadianucks.

Had first interview at Crapbucks. I mean, STARBUCKS :star: and it went well. Turns out they have TWO interviews  come on!!!! But I will go to the second one this Wednesday and lets see how it goes.

Whooo! Progresses to second interview! You're so good, Len. :luv:

Good morning..... ooops.... afternoon, everybody. Welcome back, Carla. Glad you had a good time and have renewed energy.

Well, yesterday wasn't such a good day for me. It was my friend's funeral and then my Mom called to say the doctor had said everyone needed to say their last goodbyes to my uncle. And so I called him and my cousin held the phone to his ear and I said goodbye. It was heart-wrenching. But then my other friend called to say he had gone to visit him and he seemed to be doing a little better. And he also told me he and his wife are going to the Philippines to adopt a little girl. (His wife is a Filipina.) They have been unsuccessful in having their own children and really really want a child, so that's wonderful news. And I started a cleanse on Saturday and I don't feel so hot, but not enough to lie down. I'm a little exhausted with everything. No, exhausted's not the word. I guess spent is the word. Let's just say I have minimal tolerance for whininess and stupidity at this point. LOL
