We went to see W last night. I actually enjoyed it. It was a good film. A little all over the place and filled with a lot of holes but I think it got the point across. I actually left feeling kind of sorry for the man.

So we are going sofa shopping today, I hope we find something comfy. The only thing we have to sit on at the moment is our computer chairs, which are comfortable, but still, would be nice to have a sofa to sit on :)

Where you going shopping, Trailmix? Ikea? Gosh, I remember spending weeks furniture shopping. (No Ikea back then, either.) We must have been to every furniture store from Ocala to Orlando and Leesburg to Altamonte Springs. Craziness. Got to know the area, though.

Pics! We want pics! Of the cake, that is. lol

I've never had/made red velvet cake (sounds so American, doesn't it? lol) but when I read that I immediately thought of the groom's cake in Steel Magnolias.

Good morning!

Well we went to Altamonte - first to Havertys - didn't see anything we liked there, but did meet Jerry, I think his name was, who while not being high pressure, did try to get me to sit on an slightly over-stuffed leather recliner sofa which I had just said was so ugly - he even put his hand on my back to try and propel me in to the chair - not working Jerr.

Next up was Rooms to Go - where we met Larry - who pretty much ignored us, which is fine. Here we found a recliner sofa which was not all that attractive but o so comfortable.

Then off to Lazyboy - where we met Brian who has been working for Lazyboy since 2000. Found a recliner sofa, quite pretty, in a medium green - but not o so comfortable - well Mike liked it but I wasn't as crazy about it.

So we didn't buy anything.

Here is the thing.

First of all, we weren't looking for a recliner sofa, that's just the way it worked out. But here are the two scenarios:

Sofa A - The fabric we would get it in is a tan color, but here it is in a dark brown - also it looks leatherish in the picture - it is microfibre. Not really pretty, but really comfortable - my concern with this one is that it's not as well made as Sofa B.

Sofa B - Quite pretty for a recliner sofa, but maybe i'm too tall for it or something because when I recline it back my head is not supported.

Just for comparison - this is probably more like something we would normally buy (as long as the cushions were attached, I prefer a non-cushion back actually - where it is all just one-piece-ish):

Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel have some nice sofas.

Sofa A reminds me of a manatee. :o

I love the colour and comfiness of Sofa B and the fact that it reclines. I love reclining sofas. But I always have to put a cushion or a pillow at the back of my head for the support, also.

I can see the similarity too, now that you mention it.

In person, in the tan colour, it's not as ugly, in the picture it looks hugely overstuffed - really it isn't - i'm not a big fan of overstuffed furniture.

Ok, off to look at some more sites and I will check out PB and CB!

That's all I have for memories too :) But Hubby bought a box mix when he was in LA last month, so I figured we'd give it a go. He asked me to put cream cheese icing on it too, which is pretty stinking amazing I must say..

here's the pics.. how do you ice a red cake with white frosting without the cake bleeding through anyway? I did SUCH a horrible job of icing :P

Nice couch options, trailmix. Personnally, I prefer the one in the last picture too. Here's a trick if the cushions are not attached. Get some self-adhesive velcro strips and put them under the cushions. That'll keep them from sliding out. ;)

Hi trailmix,

The third couch is the one Phil and I bought for our apartment though in sage instead of tan. It's really comfortable and even though the back cushions aren't attached, they don't move unless you pull really hard on them.

Krikit,

Reinsurance companies insure the insurance companies. This allows the insurance companies to mitigate their risk and meet more of thier claims obligations. They tend to operate out of countries that have lower taxes to keep operating costs down. The ones here focus on disaster insurance. If it weren't for them, insurance premiums for people living in hurricane prone areas would be much, much higher.
