night night all.. going to bed..

Gotta say I'm not surprised by the election results... the Liberals need to do some serious soul searching IMO.. and kick Dion out of the leadership.

I think a minority gov. is the best outcome we could have had. That will keep 'em in check

Who won???

Stephen and co

Before you throw yourself off a cliff.. it's still a minority gov., so they aren't passing notes in the house without the opposition's permission :) No worries, it will be fine - the Liberals just didn't have a convincing enough candidate and the NDP gained strength as a result.. it's okay.. give it another 2 years and the tide will turn when the Liberals chose a REAL leader.

Yes we will see. I like Stephen, I don't think he has done anything horrible, why don't you like him Galateia?

Good morning everyone!

Well the cable people showed up around 6 last night, it was funny, Mike opens the door and in walks a set of identical twins - these guys even wore their hair the same way - and of course they had their 'cable people' shirts on - really you couldn't tell one from the other

Anyhoo, they completely replaced all the outside cable - yay! Seems to be fine now - yay!

Well, here I am 'enjoying' (NOT) one of the aspects of southern living . . . our neighbour next door discovered termites inside her house so is currently getting them treated. The houses were pre-treated for termites and the soil sterilized during construction but that was 6 or 7 years ago so that is about time the stuff wears off. So, the first of the termite protection quoters just came over -options range from $425 for the baited perimeter control to the $750 for the liquid perimeter shield where they also drill into the concrete pads around the house and in the garage as well as digging down 8 inches, laying the poison completely around the house and then covering it back up. They do come with regular check ups and annual renewal fees that don't include additional costs if they find termites at any time so that is good. So, the next guy is measuring the property right now and I am waiting for his quote:-). I need to check to see if the lawn treatments we did 3 years ago are also effective against termites - we seeded the lawn with beneficial nematodes and milky spore to get rid of grubs and Japanese beetles - that is working since we didn't have a single Japanese beetle this year and neighbours did. It is also supposed to get rid of fleas and we haven't had any fleas either.

I guess there has to be a trade off for nice weather - currently 70 degrees on its way to 82, sunny with a sky so blue you can see to forever.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I can not believe how some people come dressed into this place to ask if we're hiring. A girl just walked in with short shorts and a sweater, her hair was all tangled and she asks me if we're hiring.

She says: "Umm are you guys like hiring?"

#######?

No!

Well, cool - milky spore and beneficial nematodes DO help to prevent termites getting into the area - that reassures me a lot and helps to decide what type of external control we will use - probably go with one of the baiting solutions - feels much better to me than surrounding the house with liquid poison.

We have the subterranean bait system. So far so good. Knock on wood. (pun intended. lol)

Thanks, E. I'm trying to hold it together right now. He's the one I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. He had an inoperable tumour attached to his lung and his ribcage. They gave him a year to live. I guess they were wrong.

Oh how tragic Krikit.. my heart goes out to you. So so sorry to hear that. I think that slipped through my attention because there were so many other burdens on your heart that day. (F) for you today, in fact (F) (F) (F) (F) you need a bouquet :(

E, I am so so sad. In fact, I am sad-furious. I have a lump in my throat the size of a watermelon. I want to scream and throw things. I want to lay down and bawl my eyes out. I want to yell and curse. I hate that I am so freaking far away. I hate that I have no friends here to go for a walk or a coffee with. I hate it I hate it I HATE IT!!!!
