Finally, it's Friday! Here's morning coffee. Seems like if I only get on VJ in the morning there is so much happening during the day! Good luck on buying a house, good luck in unpacking one, glad you're not pregnant, sorry you feel unwell, have fun in Brazil! *said all in one breath*! *gasp*

 Think I'll have to try and log on more than once a day eh?

I've been asked to attend a conference in Indianapolis Indiana next week with my volunteer work. A national conference. I'm so excited! The Director said I'll be a wonderful representative of the organization. That made me smile. :) Gene is going to take a few days off of work and go with me since my expenses are covered. We're going to stay an extra day as well. Any Canadian VJ'ers in Indianapolis?

Enjoy your weekend!

I see no coffee :hehe:

That's so cool Carla, you and Gene get to take a little trip together AND someone said something very nice about the work you do :)

They did walk back to me Spirit  - after actually going through a full garbage - to make sure I hadn't thrown my jewellery away, I found it on the bed when we moved the suitcases etc off it haha. Camera I found in a basket!

We didn't move last night. Mike got home at 5ish, cable to be installed between 6-8, we are about to get going and the cable installers call - can't install as there is lightning.

I was kind of mad, not because they wouldn't install when there is lightning - but because what they didn't tell me is that the wires had actually been cut from the last person who had service, so they need to install a new drop.

He did say 'it looks like it will need a new drop' - to which I replied ok, well how about you just turn it on and install a new drop some other day - he said, well it will work but we won't leave the equipment there without doing all the work at once.

Now that sounded to me like - we could make it work for you tonight, but we won't - from what I was told by the customer service person later - that wasn't the case.

So today is moving day, with cable being installed between 6-8 - if there is no lightning of course!

Actually some of it was kind of funny - waiting on hold for 34 mins for the supervisor wasn't - the fact that in the second sentence he told me he is an ex-marine is

Ahh thanks for the cuppa carla!

Trailmix I am so glad you found your jewelry and camera. And what does being an ex-marine have to do with anything? I have waiting on the phone for stuff. With our cable company, comcast, there are times where I have been on the phone for an hour or two waiting and speaking to a million different people. I'd really like to get satellite in the hopes I would be able to get CBC.

I'm so glad it's friday today but bummed that I am at work. My flight for toronto leaves at 8:30 tonight although I doubt it will actually leave at that time. Stupid east coast airports!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Exactly

I had said to the customer service person that we couldn't move without cable because my Husband needed the phone for his work (hey - I was trying to get connected  )

So the supervisors response was 'as an ex-marine I understand your Husband's need to be in touch with work' - or something to that effect.

Later in the conversation I said to him - as an ex-marine you understand the need to use a little common sense in these situations.

That's so exciting that you are off to Canada today! Hope your flight leaves on time.

I hear you E-My hubby works too many hours as well. But then I put in a decent amount of hours too so we are even in some way. haha (not really)

I have never had a flight after 9am leave on time from Newark International, JFK or Laguardia. They are plagued. All it takes is one flight to get behind then it trickles down.

There have also been times I have sat on the runway for 2-3 hours. THAT is the worst. I'd rather sit where I can freely get up and walk around, instead of in a tiny plane that can't run the AC because of trying to save fuel.

Yea they are usually countertop dishwashers, very cute!

I never had a dishwasher before I moved to this country, always did my dishes by hand. It seems every place down here comes with a dishwasher though. My mother constantly makes fun of me now for being so dependent on it. But after years and years of scrubbing dishes, its nice to let a machine do it for me.

When I first came down here to visit Mike, he lived in Collingswood and he didn't have a washer/dryer in his place, but he had a dishwasher, and I had no clean socks left so I washed them in the dishwasher and then hung them to dry. Squeeky clean I tells ya! :D

 You are too much.

I noticed that too, about the dishwashers. My parents have never had one, even though they have always lived in pretty new houses. But every one here has one and I'm completely reliant on it. haha

As one should be - in my opinion

You don't get any extra brownie points for washing them by hand

There are basically two kinds that are portable - the counter top model and the one on wheels, we are looking for the latter:

Same with garbage disposals, every place down here has those. Those kind of scare me.

I think they are just gross! I have never lived in a place that had one before, until this apartment - all I ever get to do is clean it, I would never use it.

Yea the first time I realized he had one in his old apartment, I thought the light switch was for lights under the cupboards or something...I flick it on and the sink started screaming and I literally ducked down into the fetal position covering my ears and screaming for him to shut it off.
