Whewwwwwwww!! Took awhile, lol Even though I vacuum every 2 days with my Dyson, the rug cleaner still brings up a fair amount of animal hair!! Cats hate walking on a damp floor, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Just how heavy is that dyson?? I was thinking of buying one....until I saw an ad for the 'lightweight' model - which weighs in at a whopping 15 lbs.

My dyson the DC17 "Animal" It is a good weight--according to the web it weighs close to 21 lbs! I never pick it up (no stairs in my condo) I love it though, well worth the $$$$. I bought it at bed, bath &beyond and used one of their 20% off coupons! Only negative I have about it--is the emptying of the canister! Not something you want to do inside, lol I had a fairly new kenmore upright and i thought it did an ok job! The day i bought the Dyson, i had already vacuumed that day with the kenmore, so i wasn't expecting too much debris, WRONG!!!! Was amazed!!

Morning Yall. New week of work. Hubby and I are all set to look at some houses on Wednesday night with an agent. Super pumped! Here is the house I want more than ANYTHING :)

Built circa 1752, this house is now over 250 years old!! It has always been my dream to live in an old colonial or Victorian that has been restored inside. Cross your fingers for me that nothing is structurally unsound with the house!!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Wow, how awesome! I'd love to live in an old house as well! It's too bad they destroyed the historical aspect of it though with that vinyal sided addition. What's with that? If you get it, I'd say change the outside of it there and incorporate some stonework or something. Dang, why did they do that? :crying:

haha because it's cheap!

In fact, there are few brick or stone houses when I live at all. Almost everything in NJ is built with siding. I guess it must be expensive to put brick or stone up in comparison to Canada where it is necessary because of the weather.

It is too bad they put up vinyl siding, but I actually don't mind it too much. I was drawn really to the kitchen. It has my name written all over it. It's been calling me!!!!

I def. will let you guys know and you will all be invited over for a cup of tea and some biscuits. I have been living with my in-laws for almost a year and god am I more than ready to get the F out of there! It's very hard to be married, and young, and living in someone else's house. You are, of course, still "the children".

Yes, hard to live with parents!

I love the house treble! It really reminds me of my Sister's house in Nebraska (I think their is 120 yrs old). They are still renovating after 2 years of living there - the house had basically been gutted inside, ie: they had to build a bathroom before they could move in!

Pic below - isn't the best  - but you get the idea. The kitchen is really similar - but I can't post the pic because my Sister is in it!

Love the new house!! It's precious.. I agree with the siding.. even a different darker color might have been better.. Yellow? :) Anyway, we love places with charm and character as well..the older the better i say!! (my family home was a farm house that was over 100 yrs old, so i'm kinda partial). :)

haha When I was growing up I always lived in newer homes. In fact, two of the houses my parents lived in were custom built. But Canada has so many great looking older homes, no matter if you are living in a big city or small town. Just looking at some of these houses makes me feel like I could achieve a Canadian feel somewhere here in the US. That is what is most important to me. Not to mention it gives me some space! Currently we are living in a county in NJ that has 5,000+ people/sq mile! :o

The garbage men and woman are here!

They come every Monday morning into the corridor between this house (where I live on the ground floor apartment) and the landlady's art studio.

They sing.

They whistle.

They say hello and chit chat with the landlady or whoever is out there.

Quite the happy bunch.

Sunshiny on this grey day...

Nice!

:star:

The Treble, I hope you get it and move in fast!

It looks beautiful.

Wow!

Best of luck with it going smoothly.
