I find we do not have very many natural food stores where I live. I was discussing this with my mum on the weekend after she told me I should probably stop eating a lot of the stuff I am eating if I feel like hfcs is ruining my life. I told her though that we have only one vitamin store I have seen (the vitamin shop) and it does not sell actual food items. It can be discouraging here. We are spoiled in Canada.

Spirit-what are probiotics?

Are there any liquids I can put into my body, besides water, here in the US that does not have hfcs?

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

I drink soy milk because I am lactose intolerant.

I have heard that makes me "cool"

have you always been lactose intolerant??

I think I have become lactose intolerant.. although the only dairy product that really does me in seems to be milk.. I can eat cheese and ice cream with no problems, maybe my stomach might get a little upset depending on how much I ate...... but when I drink milk.. oy vey

H2O rocks!

Hee, hee.

Not cold though, bleh.

What is the deal with so much ice in drinks here in the U.S.

I have to always ask, "No ice please."

Soy milk...I was addicted for a while.

Vanilla and the chocolate one.

Then I did a lot of research on soy and how it is a GMO or GMF and all that is so experimental.

Any food that is not natural, meaning it did not come out of a petri dish (lab), I would rather not ingest.

Antibiotics kill everything.

There are good bacteria in your body (system) that needs to be there.

And so, one takes antibiotics and wipes their system of necessary bacteria for good functioning, let's say digestive tract.

By taking probiotics (they are kept in the fridge), you put zillions of those good ones back.

They are good to take regardless of taking antibiotics....not that I do all of this all the time. Hee, hee.

Look here...I just found this site and it looks good...although I only read the first paragraph. Typical. Ha!

http://www.healingdaily.com/detoxification.../probiotics.htm

Please stay away from a habit of drinking milk.

A little is okay.

A lot is not....I do buy the organic kind for my cappuccinnos. (I never remember how to spell that.)

And I love butter!

Never never never buy anything but organic butter.

The hormones and antibiotics they feed non-sick cows to (falsely) prevent them from getting sick and to produce more milk, is killer to humans (not to mention bad for the cows). Kids should not drink milk, other than from their own moms. Ha! Again, go organic and/or bovine-free stuff if you need milk in the house.

Look what I just found:

http://nomilk.com/

Lots of stuff to read.

A long time ago, I used to work as a microbiology technician.

I did quality control testing for water, dairy products, dried (dehydrated) foods and spices.

It was an eye opener.

Yes, always. Ever since I was a baby.

It kind of sucks. Soygurt just doesn't taste the same as regular yogurt. :(

oops! I meant hfcs.

Is it true that soda water is bad for you? I thought it was really just water until some one told me recently I shouldn't drink it?

I agree with everything that you've said Spirit! I take probiotics daily. I spoke with a naturopathic doctor once who suggested I possibly had IBS and since then, I've changed the way I eat a lot. I can't tolerate wheat products it seems. However, if I'm taking my probiotics faithfully I seem to recover better if I do have wheat. Also, probiotics have stopped my chronic, medicated heartburn! Thank goodness for that. The less medication the better. I find my probiotics in the organic section of Fred Meyer. It's my first time buying it there, but it seems to be working just fine so far.

I know that not organic milk is not good for you, so if I eat milk products including yogurt and cheese, if it's possible I eat only organic. Organic food is so much better for you and it tastes SO much better too!

I found this on soda water...

Soda water in all of its forms is completely low carb. There are no carbs at all in water. There are no carbs in carbon dioxide :) Carbon dioxide is just as gas, and is fact the gas you breathe out of your body. You breathe in oxygen, you breathe out carbon dioxide.

However, make sure that you do not confuse soda water with TONIC water. Tonic water is water flavored with quinine, sugar and fruit extracts. Tonic water most definitely does have carbs and calories.

Soda water is free of any kilojoules and therefore more suitable than alcohol or juices or mixers, as you are trying to lose weight. Soda water does contain sodium (ie. salt as bicarbonate) but the amount is not as great as in some mineral waters. Sometimes we need to ask clients to restrict soda water if their organs are accumulating too much fluid as in the case of cardiomyopathy or renal kidney failure or hypertension. Assuming you are healthy then you need not worry about soda water. You are correct in thinking that those that sprinkle salt on food after cooking would probably be receiving more sodium.

 great info marilyn. I guess I was confusing soda water with tonic water. I really like soda water. I always have bottles of it laying around.

I have been a busy bee this morning..

first I cleaned out our little patio area out back.. I got tired of waiting for hubby to do it.. I stuffed a lot of his junk in our storage space in the car port..:P

and then I washed the car.. I didn't do a great job because our hose is broken .. but it is cleaner then it was before...

and then I straightened out the closet that is under the stairs..

and then I swept the floor downstairs... and vacuumed the floor upstairs..

threw the rags in the wash..

and I have some chicken defrosting in the microwave right now, going to make some garlic chicken in the crock pot...

now I am going to go rescue the rags from the dryer, throw the chicken in the crock pot, have a shower and then make me some lunch and watch some TV....
