I am so happy Ethan made friends in our new neighborhood, I was worried about him for a while. Now you can't keep him inside. He's even looking forward to school because he's got friends in his class now. Thank goodness. We went on a tour of his school today, its cute and was awarded a blue ribbon, so apparently that's good. I am excited for him.

so he has gotten over the "I want to move back to Canada and live with Grandma" stage?

I think inside the back of his mind he wants to go back to Canada, he hopes we will end up back there eventually. But he's not so depressed about being here.

Donne moi une poptart!

So I just looked up the out of country voters registration for Canada - I am going to fill this puppy out and send it in and vote in the Federal election

You will find you are not able to. You have to have a definite return date to Canada and file that with Elections Canada in order to vote when you live outside of the country. Giving a definite return date to Elections Canada may compromise your green card status in the US. It is complicated. In Canada you vote for the representative for the area in which you reside - and if you don't reside in Canada and have no definite plans to return to Canada (ie a visa expiry date, etc,) then you do not have the opportunity to vote.

I believe I can, so I will fill out the form and send it in. I do intend to return to Canada some day, also i'm not a PR here in the U.S., i'm a Citizen, plus as flames mentioned, they haven't thrown him out yet

Good info none-the-less!

Good luck, Marilyn. (F)

Yes good luck Marilyn

Ok, now this is just funny.

Look what I just received in my email...basically I spoke to this realtor shortly after we arrived here, very nice man, so he started sending me those emails, with listings etc etc, which I receive a few times a week and look at.

I have spoken to him twice on the phone and emailed him, as he contacted me - anyway:

I've noticed you have really been using your VIP web site, any luck? Do you need help pre-qualifying? If you have any questions or want to see one of the homes, please call us, (phone number).

Please let us show you the homes and write the contract, even though our services are free to you (seller pays the commission) this is how we earn our living.

Trailmix, I want you to let me show you the home and write the contract on those homes I've been forwarding to you. That is how I am going to earn my living.

Good Morning everyone! Guess we're getting the spin-off of Gustav here in terms of rain and more rain. Can't see out my windows it's so steamy here.

Whooo! Lucky you!

Good morning Canada. I will be doing my last minute stuff today so I can be on the road to Canada bright and early tomorrow morning. I have a free night at the Red Roof Inn so I guess I'll do a search to see if there's one near Beckley, West Virginia. I like to stop overnight there because that's the biggest chunk of the drive done.

Yeah, no kidding...this tooth thing is hellish...the ongoing pain.

Bleh.

Oh well it is healing.

How long do stitches in your mouth take to "melt"?

Flames??

Up here in Chi-town, the weather has gone from extremely sunny, blue skies and humidity to wind and dark clouds.

It's supposed to cool off big time and rain and thunderstorms for days to come.

It feels ominous this morning.

Electric.

Yes it is hurricane season and my friends that live on their boats in the Virgin Islands, Miami and Fort Lauderdale...I am thinking of them, too.

Gustav is almost over and we have Hanna, Ike and Josephine.

That last name is my favourite...said with l'accent francais.

And please remember hurricanes have no sex!
