Good Morning! Ever had one of these delicious treats for breakfast? Mmmmmmmm We had an exhausting weekend. We put in 18 hours driving to and from the rehersal, wedding, and back and forth. They both made a lovely bride and groom. They're off to Hawaii for their honeymoon. Glad that's over with!

I was just thinking of this again, I don't know if I mentioned it or not - but anyway.

A few weeks ago we pulled in to the Walgreen's parking lot. In front of the store a nice little Florida woman was getting out of here SUV - looking as harmless as can be.

On the back of her vehicle she had a bumper sticker:

"You're in America now, speak English!"

I still think about that - I find it so offensive...and weird!

Well, how it's written is offensive, that's for sure. I was impressed with a recent Editorial here the St. Louis paper though, and will only relay a snippet of it here.

"Regardless of their parents' lineage, children born in the United States are U.S. citizens. Today, 45 percent of American children younger than five years old are minorities. They will attend American schools. And in 20 years, they will constitute a significant work force bloc, replacing millions of retirees from the baby boom generation. The contributions of this new work force will pay for the pensions and health care of graying Americans who are living longer than older folks of previous generations.

The impact of this shift will be transformational. The emerging demographic majority will alter virtually every institution in America.

New immigrants do not have to forsake their native cultures and languages. But they must master English and U.S. customs to thrive in the U.S. democracy. The truth is that multilingual and multicultural people are prized assets in a globalized world; they should be coveted, not demeaned as threats to the American identity."

I thought this thought provoking, and the reasons for having immigrants speak English for much better reasons than those bumpers stickers!

My husband and I laugh about the random tidbits the media introduces so they can keep the story going. I think he does that so I won't go off the deep end.

So. Big thunderstorm going on here. Oh, and look! More rain. Coming down in buckets. How novel. Anyway.... if I should stop posting but yet I am still logged on, you will know that my power has gone out. Because that's what it does here when it rains.

Will it never end? So sorry you guys in Florida had all that rain. The remnants of rain and flooding is so...dirty! All that debris, everything so waterlogged.

Welcome back Carla...yes, do tell about the wedding!

My Husband is working like a 19 hour day today or something, he's not sure when he will get off work as it is election day.

No flipping kidding. I couldn't get to sleep last night, so now I feel like I've got a hangover. Does anyone else feel like that when they haven't had enough sleep?

Sounds like my husband. Americans work too hard.

I agree!

And yes, I sometimes get the - I should have just been drinking last night ! - thing - when I don't get enough sleep.

Speaking of drinking, I hardly ever have any alcohol lol

Well, what's to say about the wedding...hmmm. The bride was beautiful. She is truly a beautiful lady, I will say that. She could be a model I think. But beautiful outside, does not constitute beautiful inside. I'm sorry to say, I just don't like her. She's a bit too materialistic for me. She's into "appearances". She's hypocritical on one hand buying only things from "name brand" stores...on the other hand, going around on trash day picking out pieces of furniture on trash day. She's very controlling. It's her way or the highway kind of thing. My BIL was looking very dapper. The weather was so gross...humidity was very high. I have no pictures yet because Gene left his camera on the work bench in his parents garage while he was helping get other things into the van before we left there. The dinner was superb. This was her third marriage, his first. She had an antique white lace strapless gown, he a black tux with periwinkle blue vest and tie. The service was much too long in my estimation. There were some disturbing sentences in the ceremony as well. One was about servitude. :o The other was when the Minister said about how she would love him even horizontallly?? #######? Who would say this in a marriage ceremony?? There was little about being a "team", the service consisted of mainly how Christ was on top, then my BIL (because he's the man???), then the bride. Then about 1 million reference to their children (which they don't have yet).

Heck, I'm not perfect...by far! I shouldn't judge her. Is my BIL happy? I think he's happy. I think he was really pressured into marriage by her. They were on their second date when she started talking about marriage. They've been to some counselling before marriage, actually before they broke up for the second time during their courtship. I wish she would stop trying to change him. You know? Why did she fall in love with him at all if she wants to change everything about him? She buys his clothes now, has him going to a hair "stylist" instead of his barber, etc.

I do hope they will find some middle ground. This marriage is going to take a lot of work to maintain happiness in my books.

So many people are like this.

If you ever find yourself or a girl friend looking at a "beauty" magazine, do something drastic!

Throw it down and yell, "These magazine make women feel ugly!"

They are there simply to tell everyone how imperfect they are and if they would just spend $300 on the tiny jar of cream all will be repaired.

What a joke.

Ahem...me and my rants...hee, hee.

Name brand clothes - with the label on the outside for the world to see how silly you were for paying way too much - are for those that lack self-esteem.

I wish everyone who is trying to change someone: GOOD LUCK.

You will need it to have any on-going, solid and real relationship with anyone on any level.

Yup.

Oh and good morning all.

I am terrified of dentists, although they are always nice and gentle, and I am going for a root canal op today.
