Good morning all.

Today we are going to look at another house, here is the weird thing (yes every place we look at to rent has something weird about it).

I don't know the whole story but from the pictures I have seen the house is being renovated, ie the paint isn't quite done and the floors aren't quite done.

So why would we go and look at this - well they only want a 6 month lease - and that is REALLY hard to find here.

Anyway, I don't know if we will be comfortable in a partially renovated house. I am about to call a real estate agent about a duplex I saw online to see if they will consider a shorter lease, it's in the same area so we could drive by on the way there.

So does that mean they'll be finishing up the reno's while you're living there? Or have they run out of money? That is weird! Maybe you can finish the renovations and your payment could be the rent? You mentioned looking at another place...yes, drive by there. Surely if places are empty it's better to have a 6 month lease then to have it left empty. How big is this town or city you're looking in? Is there another community nearby? Maybe it's time to extend your search?

Let us know how it goes today. Always appreciate pictures! Best of luck!

I have been feeling very bored and restless lately.

I think I am going to get myself ready and take Cooper walking in the French Quarter. He has never been to the City yet.

I hope it stops raining though.

The funny thing is there are many many rentals here, but people still seem really fussy about the lease term. I completely understand why you would want a 1 year lease if you were renting out a property, but with so many available wouldn't you be happy to rent to a responsible couple for 6 months, rather than have it empty?

I have no idea why they would be moving out of their house mid renovation - but, as I said to my Sister, we have to go and see it and talk to these people just to find out the story!!

This is a community (Longwood) that borders Lake Mary (where we have been looking) - it's not far from where we are now.

As for pictures - here is a taste

Afternoon y'all!

Spirit...kinda late with my condolences, but I am sorry to hear about your beloved pup. (F)

Trailmix, hope you guys find something soon. House hunting, whether renting or buying, can be soooo stressful!

E...great pic! Black and whites are some of my favourites. :)

Just got back from school supply shopping since this is the tax free weekend here in Georgia. As I loaded my shopping cart with supplies for Anna and myself, I noticed this poor lady with her cart slap full! She was with her three kids, two of which are school age so I thought at least she's able to get it all for both in one trip. Well, you know how shoppers can be...we started commiserating on the amount of supplies we had to buy for our kids. Turns out her cart was FULL of stuff for just ONE kid...going into Kindergarten. We wound up at the checkout at the same time and bless her heart, her total for ONE KID'S school supplies was almost $100. Anna's supplies cost about $40. *sigh* This lady still has to come back and buy for her other child. I hope the list for this child is a lot less.

Summer is technically over for me...I start back to work on Monday, the students return on Thursday. Conferences on Tuesday. Time to buck up and get in the mode. It WILL be a good year...at least I'm gonna do my best to make it so. :D

Longwood looks like a nice community. Not big, not small. I guess it's small from where you guys came from though. The picture you've got here...is this a place you've seen? It's sure nice and roomy...at least this part of the house! Looks clean!

Egads!!

We went and had a look and even if it wasn't a disaster area - which it is - they have 3 cats and 2 dogs (which is not a prob, people should have as many pets as they like!)

The problem is the pets are obviously not house trained !! So, even though they just took the carpet out of the master bedroom, which they were using as a living room - enough said.

They are doing a reno - have been at it for 2 years, now he gets a job offer in southern florida, so they are leaving Sunday and they will try it for 6 months. How they are going to get all their stuff out and get it clean in 2 days i have no idea.

Funny thing, people do these renovations and move rooms around and things end up getting weird, for instance the master bedroom opens up to the laundry room. This is why there are architects

My stepson is starting grade 1 in a few weeks. It was a $500 bill for his books alone. He has gone to this school for pre K and Kindergarten and his tuition is over $7000.00 a year.

I am stunned at what schooling costs here.

Awwwwwwww sorry your summer is almost over Karen! I hope your school has air conditioning! School is back in here the 13th I think. Too early as far as I"m concerned. They let them out at the beginning of May when it's a lot cooler than it is going back into school now!

Ewwwwwww I looked at a rental home when I was younger...(ie. a LOT younger) where the people had dogs and cats and two ferrets that weren't always outside when they had to use the bathroom either! Gross!! That smell never leaves. No wonder they had taken out the carpet.... Keep looking!

I remember the good old days when the schools supplied most of the supplies...

That's when supplies were a pencil and a lined notebook! I questioned, even when my kids were in school if half this stuff was necessary, and it wasn't.

ooooooooooooo have fun Sprailenes! I hope you have no rain. You should see if you can meet up with some Chicago VJ'ers while you're up there! Send me the rain if it'll help! Enjoy!

Our supply list for the last few years includes hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes...one or two per child. Five packs of wide ruled paper, 48 pencils, colour pencils and/or crayons, plastic baggies, tissues, scissors, ruler, composition notebook, pocket folders with prongs (5..different colours)...that's just our list. The lower grades have even more for art and such.

I wish we didn't start back until after Labour Day. As it is, the temps here are well into the 90's F unless a storm is on the horizon. When the temps are like this, we are told we can't take the students out for recess. Thank goodness we're air conditioned. Still, if it's this hot and no recess, it would make more sense to wait a month til the temps start to stay in the 80's. Oh well. :) I've not seen a Labour Day start date in many years. IMHO the school districts are trying to gently guide themselves into year round schooling. Some districts have already gone to an abbreviated version of that type schedule.
