Hmm, maybe only if your family doctor doesn't do that type of thing? I know of many women here that do that...but I think it's unnecessary unless you have specific issues that need to be addressed. I went to my family Dr. in Canada for everything. If she referred me to a specialist, then I went, otherwise she handled it. My Dr. here is my GP, I have my yearly "wellness woman" PAP with her. I don't need any pills, but I would assume she'd prescribe them if I needed them.

Well that's exactly what I was thinking.. I don't have a family Dr either.. :( so i'm on the hunt for that as well.. *sigh.. Hubby is sure I have to go see a GYN which I'm thinking is overkill.. i just need a birth control prescription and a pap..

Good luck on the Dr. hunt. I got a CD of lists of Dr.'s that were with my husband's health coverage. I basically looked for female GP's, within a few miles radius. I called two for "interviews". I went to the first one...a young lady, I'd say late 20's, AWESOME!!! She spent 1.5 hours with me, and we're really going to work well together. She thought it was delightful and smart of me to interview Dr.'s before choosing one. She and I are on the same wavelength in terms of collaborative medicine, and always holistic healing first. I adore her. I hope you're as lucky! Call and ask for an interview with several. I was lucky to find the ideal one on my first visit.

Glad you found a dr Carla! The kind you described are hard to find. Our GP is like that...very holistic in approach and then meds when necessary and appropriate. I went through three different drs before finding the one we see now.

E, good luck finding a good dr, one that works with you is so important. There are tons and tons of drs out there, but good ones are so hard to find. :)

So, as of today we have been in Florida for 3 months.

We are still in our renting-month-to-month apartment. Mike has started looking for a job, however jobs in the IT industry in this area are few and far between - therefore, when one does come up, they are asking for qualifications that you would expect a manager to have, for entry level positions.

Here is the quandry regarding where we live. So we rent this place month to month, it's not bad, but it is small and our stuff is still in storage with UPack in Orlando. I want my stuff, in particular I want my bed.

We don't want to buy a house just yet, even if we could, which we can't until Mike gets a job, because we don't know where that job will be and don't want him to have a big commute.

So I decided that we need to move out of our month-to-month apartment and in to a small house (it will cost about the same or less to live in an unfurnished house).

We go round and round with this subject, because even to rent we aren't sure which Orlando suburb we want to live in, however even while I write this out I realize that moving out of this apartment is really what we need to do.

Thanks for reading

I have my "regular" doctor, who does my paps and stuff, but she referred me to a OB/GYN when I had other symptoms -- both of them are excellent doctors. I am very fortunate. :)

Trailmix -- we're fixing to get ready to move as well. We found a fantastic one on Friday, we just have to sell ours first! Fingers crossed. :)

It is definitely a buyers market out there right now, so you have the luxury of being thorough and looking at a lot of options before deciding.

I think cattatude means this one

This guy now has everyones attention and he thinks that he is incredibly interesting (i'm not saying he's not - I read the first part of the thread).

Once this happens the people will turn and he will get flamed (in my opinion).

Ohhhh....THAT one. LOL, I read through that whole dramatic soap opera. Yeah, I would have to say he's interesting...in a romance novel sort of way. He's very articulate. It made for some good reading Saturday...once I was able to sit in my chair at the computer for a bit. I do think he's over dramatized the whole thing and he is definitely loving the fact that he is the centre of attention.

For a bit anyways...I'm inclined to agree Trail...it won't be long before the masses turn the tide...

Oh man, this was fun... for the first 6 hours. Now it's just so lame. I wonder if the guy doesn't realize everyone is just laughing at him....

I called that thread a fake to myself on the very first page!! Sounded to fishy right from the get go!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

While I agree with you both - I still (L) that thread. Mostly because its like a really good fairy tale - its keeps bringing me back for more. For me its like I'm pretty sure that a donkey can't poop gold, but darn it if I owned a donkey I'd check its turds everyday just to make sure. :P
