But let's just say there are only two people who live in this house and only one of us puts things in bags in the closet of the study. Oh.... and I have no idea where he put his passport so guess what he'll be doing this evening? :hehe:

So who did it!?!?

This got me to thinking as Mike needed his green card the other day, we keep passport, ss cards and green card all in the passport folder - but it wasn't there, it was in my purse. Must ask him if we put everything back.

Anyway, i'm glad YOU found yours....at least YOU are going on a trip

I think it is really strange here re SSN, when I call the bank (Centura), in order to identify me they want my SSN - which of course I don't know. So I say I don't know it and don't have it and then have to give them my account number (anyone out there know their bank account number?) and the place where I opened the account and how much money I put in and when I opened it.

There was an article in the paper the other day, some bill had been brought forward to eliminate the SSN as reference for medicaid, to help to curb identity theft, but it got shot down.

If the country continues to rely on the one number for identifying everyone, well you guys already know this.

Yep, I agree. Being asked for my SSN at every turn pretty much drives me insane. Oh! And they tell you not to carry it with so I put it away with my immigration stuff. But they asked me to bring it to my driver's license appointment so I tried to find it..... but I can't. I'm thinking it got moved when my husband flooded the house. Luckily I carry a photocopy of it around with me because I keep getting asked for it. On an interesting side note..... not only did I have to provide the airline and cruiseline with my passport information, I also had to give them my greencard number.

Exactly!

So since everyone wants it, it is only as secure as their computer systems. My Sister and her Husband go to a casino in Iowa, they just drive over the border (they like going to the casino but they moved to Nebbie which has no casinos...but anyhoo).

So they get a letter a few months ago - oooops the company that tracks expenditures etc (for comps and taxes I guess) has had a breach in their computer systems, sorry sorry your personal information may have been leaked.

Yes, I find that odd too.

I had given my CDN SIN to the bank here and to Verizon (maybe, I cannot remember about the cellphone) when I got hooked up in the U.S. way back in 2005.

I was in and out of the country often and got a skookum cellplan that includes all of North America (they have cut that since and I am "grandfathered in".

So now when the rare time I call the bank and they say, "Last four of social" I remember to give them my CDN one that I memorized when I was a kid.

Or maybe that is with the phone...the bank asks for the whole SSN and I tell them it won;t work to find me and we find other ways to find me.

I agree that it is not the best system for all official thingies to go by your SSN.

Whatever happened to just finding us with our bank card number like they do in Canada???

I carry it at times, and I have yet to show it to anyone.

What's to prevent people from making up a card number?

I am thinking of doing that if some one other than the government asks me for it. Ha!

I knooooooooow!!!!! I hate having to give everyone and their brother my personal info. :crying: And that so sucks about your sister and hubby. The same thing happened here with my husband. DSW had the same thing happen to them, and everyone's credit card information and address and stuff they had from any purchases was stolen. We got a letter in the mail a couple of years ago because my husband's information was on file with them. Stupid stupid stupid. :bonk:

I think its weird too that everyone want your SSN. Even when we were getting the kids registered for school they wanted it we didnt have one and wont for the kids for awhile yet. i've decided they wont get it either if their that incompetant and cant tract the students without one do i really want them teaching my kids. Anyways i'm not giving it to anyone unless i have too, but the schools can shove it. I already hate the school system here and they havent even started yet. Home schooling looks good and i've done my research too. Ok stoping now cause that part will be better in the vent section hehe.

Good Morning! It's Friday! Coffee's on!

helvetica-coffee-mug.jpg

We're headed out of town again. A good friend of Gene's Father passed away so we're going to head out and attend the service. Won't be back until Tuesday. Maybe we can get out of this heat here. It's gross. About 35 Celcius today and high humidity. :crying:

Everyone enjoy their weekend!

Have a safe trip, Carla. Sorry it's for something sad.

Some random thoughts:

  • It's my hubby's day off today. He's at work.
  • I'm going to do some laundry then head to the dry cleaner's and the store. Maybe over to Sanford for some shopping when hubby gets home. Bath & Body's got a sale on and there's a few things I'd like to pick up.
  • It's foggy here right now.

Yes have a good trip Carla, I too am sorry it's not a happy trip.

Your Husband seems to work too much krikit! Since Mike is looking for a job maybe they could job share

I keep getting 20% off anything in the store, from BB and B - I keep throwing them away due to the - no more buying things until we move - rule. Do you get them in the mail too?

It's so humid out there today the patio chair was actually damp. Actually, every morning I take a squeegee and wipe the patio doors as they are always covered in moisture. Last night I turned the air conditioning down a bit then, after a little while, I'm saying, Mike! it's so hot in here! Turn up the air conditioner pleaseeeeee. In its own way Florida's weather is just as hostile as a Canadian winter.

One of the biggest advantages of having a military ID card (Joe is retired army) is that it has both his SSN and my SSN on it and I am always getting asked for both - Joe's because he is the main insured on our health coverage so his number is linked to the account first, and then mine. I remember my SIN but not my SSN. Heck, Joe knows our bank account numbers, his SSN and his credit card numbers by heart! I'm lucky to remember our phone numbers, hehehehe!

Yeah, summer in the South can be brutal. The heat and humidity have come in early this year - it is usually not until mid June that we start getting high humidity and high temperature days together but this year they started in May. The one thing I LOVE about here is that even though the day time temperatures get up into the 90s on a daily basis, they drop back down into the 70s or even the high 60s overnight. It isn't uncommon to have a 30 to 40 degree temperature difference between day and night - all year around. There is a period of about 6 to 8 weeks in the summer where the night temperatures only go to the mid to high 70s and the humidity is so high it feels like you are breathing water and we have to keep the a/c on all the time just to keep the humidity tolerable. We have the a/c set for 79 so many evenings I am able to open up the windows when the temperatures reach the mid 70s and we get to enjoy the cooler night air. I still have them open now but will have to close them in a few minute because the humidity is high and the temperatures are rising quickly. We have a pool here in our community but I keep forgetting to use it - it is at the entrance to the community and we are at the far back. Two years ago I went regularly and not at all last year - I need to start again - it is a refreshing way to spend some time during the heat of the day. But first - I need to see the chiropractor before the weekend!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Yes, I keep getting those BB&B coupons too. You'd think they wouldn't send them out so frequently so it would be more of a feeling of "Oh look! A 20% off coupon!" instead of "Oh, for gawd's sake.... another 20% off coupon."

I think I'm made for Florida weather. For some reason I generate my own, internal, A/C. I am ALWAYS cold.... no matter what. I'm like the turtles that have to climb onto a rock to warm up so they can handle being in the cold again. I thought it particularly funny when my friends and co-workers used to tell me I need to move to Florida before they knew I was going to.
