Howdy from Calgary!! Weather has been cool (like +15 C as a high) but love it, soo much better than 100F with humidity!! And I'm chugging down tims, lol 0935 and I have already had 2 XL triple cream, lol had 3 on my first day, lol. Nice to see peope walking around the stores with their timmys, lol

Rough Riders kicked butt over BC Friday night in the first preseasongame!! GO Roughies!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

hmm, thanks for the coffee . . . I think! Why are all those men wearing masks mucking around for in that cup, btw? Or are they just stirring in the double-double?

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I just need to say that in 722 hours Patrick will be here.

Well, technically he'll be in Canada, but we'll be together :)

OK...had the interview this morning *expels breath I've been holding* It sounds great...very flexible. I can work from home as much as I want as long as the job gets done, which is great for me since I have Anna...they also pay mileage since the job requires making home visits with families, and I get two weeks vacation, one week of that after six months. No benefits, but Joel can get insurance for us through his employer. Did I mention it pays $8K a year more? If chosen (oh I hope I am!) I will immediately have to fly out to St. Louis, MO for training and certification as a Parent Educator. The interview....it was an hour long! A member of the board of directors sat in on the interview with the program director too...didn't know I would be interviewed by two people...and they seemed very pleased with my answers and my resume. All they asked was for a 18 month to 2 year committment. LOL, I figure if I can commit myself to 13+ years as an educator, I can do this. Anywho...they said they will make a decision very quickly and will call me either way.

Ok...nail biting time...and they're already short! :help:

Oh Karen, this sounds wonderful!!! This would be SO great for you, and your family!! I do so hope they will get back to you quickly and that you're the one they choose! Being able to work at home will be wonderful! Yes, you mentioned it pays more, and isn't that exciting as well!!

I don't know where you'll be taking your training in St. Louis, and what they might cover in regards to housing, but please know that my place is open to you for whatever you need!! If they're covering a hotel, and you'd rather stay there, then that's okay, but PLEASE lets get together!!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will include you in my prayers. (F)

Well, I didn't get the job. I was second in line though. I suppose that should be some consolation. They did say if this one doesn't work out, they would call me. *sigh* Tnanks to all that wished me well. I still have my teaching job so all is not lost. Something else will come around I'm sure...if it's meant to be. :)

Carla, Joel has family in St. Louis...anytime we're there visiting them, we'll definately get in touch with you and Gene. :)

I am kind of getting tired of the mentality some people have in the OT....

Oh I know what you mean...it's rare that I post anything in that particular OT...and IF I post anything, it's usually in a neutral thread. Which as you and I both know those threads are few and far between....and can most of the time become an outright flame war.
