OK...had the interview this morning *expels breath I've been holding* It sounds great...very flexible. I can work from home as much as I want as long as the job gets done, which is great for me since I have Anna...they also pay mileage since the job requires making home visits with families, and I get two weeks vacation, one week of that after six months. No benefits, but Joel can get insurance for us through his employer. Did I mention it pays $8K a year more? If chosen (oh I hope I am!) I will immediately have to fly out to St. Louis, MO for training and certification as a Parent Educator. The interview....it was an hour long! A member of the board of directors sat in on the interview with the program director too...didn't know I would be interviewed by two people...and they seemed very pleased with my answers and my resume. All they asked was for a 18 month to 2 year committment. LOL, I figure if I can commit myself to 13+ years as an educator, I can do this. Anywho...they said they will make a decision very quickly and will call me either way.

Ok...nail biting time...and they're already short! :help:

Oh Karen, this sounds wonderful!!! This would be SO great for you, and your family!! I do so hope they will get back to you quickly and that you're the one they choose! Being able to work at home will be wonderful! Yes, you mentioned it pays more, and isn't that exciting as well!!

I don't know where you'll be taking your training in St. Louis, and what they might cover in regards to housing, but please know that my place is open to you for whatever you need!! If they're covering a hotel, and you'd rather stay there, then that's okay, but PLEASE lets get together!!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will include you in my prayers. (F)

This greeted me this morning when I got the paper!! I have seen it almost every weekday morning so I took my camera along with me this morning. I'm tired of telling Gene and my neighbour about him/her and wondering if they believe me!

Very nice coffee Charles!

Good morning everyone! It's another beautiful, if very warm, day in Central Florida. I've just been sitting out on the porch doing crosswords.

My cat has been really quite noisy since we moved here. Not that she wasn't somewhat noisy before, but as she gets older her meow vocabulary is expanding.

Wow!! Skunks are actually quite cute- but it is scary to be close to one.

I found out recently that Mel has never smelled a skunk. I thought that was odd- he has no idea what it smells like.

When I was quite young, we lived in the country in Quebec- we always had to worry about the dogs getting sprayed.

Wow, Karen, keeping my fingers crossed for you (and toes too!). Hope you get the job - and what a nice opportunity to get together with Carla as well. Cool!

MissStacey - I too grew up in Quebec and my Mom and I were very adept at washing cats in tomato juice after they had been skunked. Of course, all that happened is that the cat then smelled of skunk and tomato juice!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

My Sister's dog (in Calgary) was sprayed by a skunk once and indeed had the tomato juice/skunk cologne. I didn't go over there for a few days after - so didn't experience this myself.

Carla I think you are very brave for taking a picture of the skunk, I think I would freak out.

Charles, that is a huge cup of coffee, is it like communal??

Look at these lawn ornaments, aren't they cute, Carla these belong in your yard I think:

Ok, I think this is weird, but maybe it's not?

I get a letter from RBC (U.S.) yesterday. The little slip notice thing has my Canadian address on it and says hey - you have been identified as a non-resident, so fill out this W8. Weird thing is, of course, they have this slip in a typed envelope to our Florida address.

So, I'm not a non-resident, of course, so I call them - and after giving them my name, my bank card number, my account number, the name of the city where I opened the account and the branch it is attached to (whatever), we finally get to talk about the slip!

Long story short, she said that I need to fill out a W9 not a W8. Fine, so I ask, 'does every person who opens a bank account in the U.S. have to fill out a W9'? She says yes, they do.

Is this true? You have to fill out a W9 to open a bank account?

Trail, we NEVER had to fill out a W9...not even sure what it is. We've had bank accounts in two different banks since Joel has been here and neither one has asked us to fill out this form. The only forms we've filled out were the ones to open the account which has our signatures on it. Maybe the banks in Florida are like that though.
