Oh yeah, tax on things already taxed?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What if , if, if, everyone moved close to work....or , or, or worked from home, and and and or bought a bicycle or roller blades or even a skate board or or or even a scooter or smallish motorcycle, and rode to work or TOOK THE BUS/TRAIN/SUBWAY to work/play/loitering-with-intent places...

YEAH, what if???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would wreak havoc wouldn't it.

Do it people do it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning!

coitciao.gif

I was reading through this thread before posting, because I was sure I had seen a posting from Spirit saying she was going to never see winter again...and was getting rid of her winter clothes! Spirit, don't you live in Chicago????:) Funny girl!

Right about now, I think I"d love for it to be winter....33 degrees, and humidity you can cut with a knife here today. I loathe that kind of heat!!

Enjoy the warmth of the sunshine if you like, but I'll be in AC today!

Yeah, I noticed that comment from Spirit as well - and saw she is in Chicago (VBG)! We are in a heat wave here too - have had the a/c on for 4 days now without being able even to open the windows overnight. We keep the ac on at 79 degrees and it does feel cool. It keeps the humidity down, though, and that is the biggest thing. Daytime temps in the 90s - and scheduled there for the next 10 days - night time still in the high 70s - humidity in the 60 to 70% range - and no rain in the forecast until the 10th day of the schedule. Welcome to Summer in the South!

I know this whole having to pay tax on your vehicle every year blows my mind.

My thoughts EXACTLY. In fact, I just received my renewal and they STILL haven't amended their error of quoting the odometer reading in miles instead of kilometers.

Ouuu ouuuu ohhhh, the intoxication is still lingering.

I will be drinking a gallon of water before noon...flush it out of my system.

This is what happens when sailors use their peer pressure tactics, or was it when I inadvertently ended up being the boat's bartender after racing in the fog last night...

Oops!

Hee, hee.

Good morning!

Yes, I was just sitting out on the patio thinking - you know, Florida is hot

We are the thickest of humidity weeks...and it continues.

Until when, who knows? I am new to these parts.

Cold showers for me! Hahaha.

OMG do I miss the West Coast climate...and mountains...and ocean, although the Lake is great - a huge unsalty sea. Easy on the sailing gear.

Krikit, do you think they will ever change the odometer reading thing? Whose department is that, it would be a huge deal for them to figure that out so I just don't think it's going to happen

Ms Spiritalight - people are inquiring as to how you are going to get out of Chicago winters! So what's the scoop??

I'm going to go in and give it one last shot. At this point it's not a big deal. But if I ever decide to sell it or trade it in, it becomes one. MAN, I am so tired of fighting for what's right.

The car tax thing is ridiculous.

Almost as ridiculous as the immigration process.

Ha!

How can The System tax something that has been taxed already.

Oh well, I am discovering thingies about moving into Chicago about cars and such...like paying to have a sticker that you own your car AND live in the city.

Uhm, hellllllooooo....what was the registration for? And the license plate? And then there is the sticker to park on the street, no matter whether you are on a permit parking or not...and then there is the permit parking. So much. Well, I haven't gotten the full lo-down yet because every time someone starts telling me about it, I tune out; my blood boiling. In the end, I will either be cycling, scootering, or motorcycling, so....I am not sure what will affect l'il ol' me.

As for me and my relationship to this area: Chicago is so full of stuff to do and good people; so much so I am overwhelmed, and sometimes choose to hermit. Bah!

The frenzy of the seasonal racing scene and then there are free blues/jazz/art shows, street parties, etc etc etc, and there are conflicts all over the place. My A.D.D. kicks in and I am hooped. That is why I will be taking a road trip alone to my Montreal for a week and a half, get some of my shtuff, and then drive back to more frenzy, and then leave again at some point for all these destinations: L.A., San Fran, Vancouver, Portland ME, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale....and possibly Santa Rosa Beach again to assist my darling step-MIL to come back to her other home in Illinois.

I need to clone myself!

As for me and Winter: it is oil and water, hence....my sweetie knows that if we are still living here, I will be away A LOT this Winter. :P

He has chosen to stay at his place of work until next Spring for businessy reasons and so...

Those are his decisions for himself...and what will that cost him?

(I have asked him that question. He looked at me blankly. I function on so many levels and he is on the surface. ;) )

We have so much to talk about and so much to plan and still...we are still getting to know each other.

So who knows??

Anything can happen!

Where is "ideal"?

Florida is great, and the humidity kills me.

California is great, and it is expensive.

Perhaps Oregon? Washington?

Back to Vancouver???

Hmmmm..oh the dreaming...

Like I said, I dream awake.

The car tax thing is ridiculous.

Not only that, I got taxed when I registered the vehicle. So, to recap:

  1. I was taxed on the initial purchase.
  2. I was taxed on the value so I could register it in Florida.
  3. I am taxed each year because I own it.
