So we went to Penney's today - I did get a credit card and 10% off my purchases today, which included a knife and 2 pairs of sunglasses.

Had to buy a knife for slicing, there isn't a sharp knife in this place and it was making it so I didn't even want to cook! Not that I enjoy cooking all that much normally anyway

Why didn't you tell me that you were a boy, although it might explain why you always smelled like BRUT. Might also explain why you wore an athletic supporter and cup. A postgraduate degree in Education, are you planning on becoming a football coach? There's no such thing as Organic Chemistry in Mexico, all those folks at Pemex are just making salsa.

Good morning, Canada Forum. I'm back in sunny Florida again. Got home late last night/early this morning. It was cloudy and 10c/50f with a cold wind when I left wintery Ontario. Since I am not a 10c kind of person, you can imagine how happy I was to get home and get out of my woollies.

hey krikit can you bring me back some cheese whiz and mr big bars..??? pretty please with a cherry on top... lol

Happy belated birthday, Marilyn! If you send me your address I will send you a happy birthday jar of Cheez Whiz. Unfortunately, I cannot send you a Mr Big bar because I did not bring any of those back with me. Please put in your order a little bit sooner next time.

You guys should see the stuff I brought back with me. I literally had almost 50 lbs worth of items that we can't get here. But I can't believe I forgot to bring my rye bread and Alphagettis, dammit! Though I did remember the malt bread. In fact, I will be toasting some later.... as soon as I wake up. Takes me a couple of hours to get hungry when I first wake up.

Happy belated birthday, Laura! And Yay for July 19th weekend! I will be in Venice that weekend and will buy a nice piece of glass in your honour. Well, actually I will be buying it in my honour for my birthday (July 17th) and my dining room table. I would like a nice large colourful bowl. I'm thinking sunset colours. But we will see what catches my eye.

Just phoned up the international tax phone number for "questions about my assessment" (1-800-267-5177)

Instantly got the message "Mailbox for inquiries is full. Please phone later."

Lovely. Juuuuuust lovely. First I got shafted on the 90 days of EI. Now Canada wants to give me back half my income tax return. I didn't have any US income in 2007 and didn't get my greencard until Feb 2008.

The message manager was probably full because people forgot it was a holiday!

WOW Isn't THAT weird!!! I was replying to a thread on taxes and it showed up here on the OT forum??

Well, it makes me feel better, anyway. I was looking at that message thinking.... "How did I miss that? I could have sworn I caught up with this thread."

But I asked the financial advisor in Canada about that very thing and he said you cease to become a resident when you spend 183 days out of the country and that the GC has nothing to do with it.
