Thanks for that lovely coffee Trailmix. Best of luck finding a coffee that you like here, and when you do please share what you liked. Personally I have been drinking either Folgers or Maxwell House. Neither of which I care for but they are coffee and they do work lol.

But I'm surprised that you aren't getting the discount on just one item. I asked them about that when I first moved down here because I don't want two (or 10) of anything. They told me that the discount still applies. Unless they've changed it or it was a special sale or something?

Oh and yes, I think the 10 for things, you still get the discount but these are like their weekly 'specials'.

And they have these request sheets all over the store, so I requested vegemite and MJB coffee, will see if they order it!

You should be able to get MJB coffee - we used to get that at the PX at Fort Gillam and I have seen it in our local Kroegers. I wasn't too fussy about it - it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great, however, at Costco we discovered whole bean Seattle Mountain Columbian coffee and gave it a try. We are converts - it is wonderful coffee! Clean, mild, coffee-tasting coffee with no bitterness or oiliness even when brewed on the strong setting:-). Also, while it is expensive, the Dunkin Donuts' brand of coffee is available here in most grocery stores and it is very good as well. I used to drink Nabob in Canada - find Maxwell House and Folgers too bitter and oily for my taste.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Happy Mother's day all.

So krikit I take it the pizza place doesn't open at 5, oh well maybe it will be open when you come back!

So yes, it is Mother's day, my Son isn't too keen on 'marketing' holidays, that's not what he actually calls them, but if it involves a Hallmark card he figures it is just some made up thing to sell products.

But anyhoo - we have officially run out of Nabob coffee, just drinking it now. I will try a few brands we can get at the store (krikit I forgot which one you told me about) - if we don't like them we can order MJB from Amazon.

No, the pizza place was closed. :( In fact, everything but McDonald's was closed. So, obviously, that had a lineup the length of the terminal. Stupid place. Finally found a bottle of water in the bookstore and waited until I got to Baltimore to get a Starbucks. Still didn't feel like eating, though. But at least Baltimore has a great selection of places to get food. Orlando, not so much.

The coffee I buy from Publix or Albertsons is Starbucks Medium House Blend. I mix the decaf and the regular together so I'm not a jumpy bunch of nerves.

Just came back from a nice brisk walk because it's a nice brisk sort of day. I wore my fleecies and a windbreaker so that should give you an idea of what I mean by brisk. It's funny how I step right back into being fit and healthy here, yet it seems to be such a burden to do that in Florida. I don't know why that is. :( Could be the heat and/or the lack of a destination in my neighbourhood.

I stopped at the Horton's and had a coffee and a cranberry blueberry bran muffin. It was so good. Then I went to the bank machine and withdrew money from my American bank and deposited it into my Canadian bank. I love the banking in Canada. Try and do THAT in the States without having them F it up.

Then I walked through the local mall.... went into Zellers, exchanged my old Optimum card at Shoppers for a new one, then picked up some specialty rice in Dominion that I can't get in the US.

All in all a great day, so far! Now I must get ready to go to my daughter's house. Talk to you soon!

Thanks for giving me the name again krikit - I will write it down!

We did buy a pound of maxwell house - mild - on Friday night, will let you guys know what we think of it. Yeah, I prefer Nabob to MJB, but at least MJB is familiar as we used to buy it when we went to costco sometimes. I have looked at Walmart (my Sister buys hers there in Nebbie), publix and Albertson's so far.

Good morning! I thought I'd brew you a Tim's this morning since I bought a few cans back....

p567696191_o-1.jpg

I had a wonderful time back in Saskatoon, but I'm exhausted!!! I see that others have made their way back to Canada as well since I've been gone. trailmix, I buy Maxwell House 100% Columbian here, as it's the only arabica bean coffee that Maxwell House makes...as well, the 100% Columbian coffee that Folgers makes. I'm a coffee snob, so know about the difference between robusta and arabica, and arabica beans are the best. Try either of these blends for some wonderful coffee! I did bring back 2 cans of Nabob Full City as well. It's nice to be home to some green lawns and warm weather. Saskatoon still had snow along the riverbank, and everything is brown, brown brown! Very drab looking. Enjoyed the time with my kids, but visiting the rest of my friends was exhausting. I found myself rushing around all day, and was dropping exhausted into bed every night. Will post a few pics after I've organized myself here in a few days.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Welcome back Carla! Next time you go to visit just don't tell anyone you are there, except family

Well, so far ye olde Maxwell House that we bought seems to be ok, not bitter, actually it doesn't really taste like too much of anything, can't complain about that, better that than some bitter - something.

So one of the lawn persons is out edging the pathway across from us, they also edged it last week, soon it will be a moat.

Hey trailmix - is there a Trader Joe's in your area? If so, go get their coffee sister. It is THE BEST EVER. I personally vouch for the French Roast and the Bay Blend!!!!!
