I've been trying to get someone at Centura to talk to me about mortgages for about 3 hours now, leaving a call back number, getting a recorded message that someone will call me back, being given a mortgage guy's number that has been disconnected.

Just on hold now with customer service.

Oh anddddd - my skin isn't dry anymore!! yay Florida!

Yeah, banks here are terrible. Here's another contact for you. We found her to be very professional and pretty straightforward to deal with. She was with Suntrust then.

I have a bunch of cellphone numbers and her assistant's number, too, if you get tired of being on hold with Centura. The website looks pretty good.

Congrats!!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

So we went to visit our bank manager yesterday. There had been some very strange things happening to our accounts and we wanted to find out why. Apparently they had a bunch of hillbillies working for them and they didn't know what the hell they were doing. We were supposed to have the super-duper deluxe accounts with no fees and a shiny new safety-deposit box, but they had given us the no frills version and had been charging us through the nose. So now we're all straightened out, we both have shiny new keys, and...... ta daaaaaah...... I got offered a job! I'm thinking I may look into it.
