Good morning! They look like maple leaves to me too.

Anyone here from TO? There was a really bad fire a week ago at Queen and Bathurst :( Wiped out nearly the whole block.

So So sad.

I heard about the fire. How tragic! I used to live at between Queen and King, west of Dufferin, so I know the area well. Very sad. :(

I lived at Queen and Dufferin too! "Parkdale" I used to go shopping in that area a lot and go for patio drinks when the weather was nice. It's super sad how much it actually took out.

Congrats on the job! I just read that. Great news..

Yikes..small world! I lived in Parkdale. On Melbourne Ave. One of those old converted houses. The wood work was incredible. That was hmmm between 1979 and 1982. Maybe you were in diapers then?

Thanks for the congrats...I'm going to love it. It's a volunteer position.

Congrats!! And I hope its a good experience! As a RN student did time in a long term care facility last semester and sorry, its not for me!! Little depressing, I guess I like to see patients improve, and the smell, well thats all I will say,lol but i highly respect people that work there.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Either that or it was a red cow. (Liz's Meez, that is.)

I hadn't heard about the fire. You'd think when your kids live in the city they'd maybe mention something like that. Kids. Sheesh.

When I was younger I always thought that I would go into nursing so I did volunteer work at a hospital. I really enjoyed it for a while.... until they put me on the geriatrics ward. I was absolutely distraught after a few shifts there. You would think that the nurses would have explained Alzheimer's and dementia to me before sending me in. I absolutely believed the elderly patients when they would cry and tell me no one ever visited them or thinking I was their long lost daughter whom they never saw. I never went back. :(

Ya its a very hard ward to work in, even those ones without Alzheimer's or Dementia. Takes a special person to work there. And many facilities are short staffed! 1-because it can be a stressful job 2) the employer is there to make $$$$$$, more staff costs more $$$$$= less profit!
