So there are two moving type things I am pondering today.

The first is Upack and the relocube. Their estimate for delivery from Calgary is 6 days. It will take us longer than 6 days to get there so the cube will prob have to spend a few days in storage, no big deal but I'm then wondering if they will deliver it to our door in Florida at no extra charge (I've emailed them this question and asked what the fees are in Orlando).

That's all good, thing is we don't have a DOOR!! We plan to buy a house after we have looked around the different areas for a few months, but in the meantime we will rent for say 3-4 months. So we need to find a rental and we have briefly looked at some of the offerings at rent.com, seems the rents are in the 800-1200 dollar range.

Anyway, it should be interesting renting pre-arrival - yeah.

Plus, I really need to buy a carrier for my cat, so she can get used to it before we plunk it in the car. Looking at a few but need to measure her bed to make sure it will fit in the carrier. :luv:

Ahh, yes. One of the many fun learning experiences we all must endure. Renting is a great option while you scout out the areas you would like to live in. We had to wrestle with short term vs long term leases because we weren't sure how long it would take to find a house. The interesting thing I've seen around here lately is landlords offering free rent to bring in tenants. I actually saw a sign advertising the first 3 months free! Usually it's just the first month. I had just given Aidan80 a link to the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce rental properties because we live in the same area. There's a few pretty good prices on there. Oh wow. There are some really good prices in Tavares too! I went to towngreeters.com because that is the email address my realtor uses, and there are all kinds of links to rentals there. Enjoy! (And let me know if you want me to scout any of them out for you!)

If serves anything, UPack will keep your stuff for a while no charge. We arranged for them to deliver I think 3 days later than they actually arrived in Mercer Island (well, in Kent where their base is); and it was no problem. Call UPack in FLA. As per renting before arrival, we had mamma in law check out places in the Island and she made the decision for us (not without calling me first the sweetie pie). We didn't last long in the Island, but then I had time to check out Seattle's neighborhoods and settled. Do you have any friends who can check out places for you?

I start my new job tomorrow!

I AM SO EXCITED!!!

I even packed a lunch...hehe like the old days when I worked in Canada.

Knock'em dead sister!!!!

and brown bag it every day --- saves us a ton of money. I bring my lunch and my huge coffee thermos. If I had to buy all that on campus, I would spend circa 20 USD daily

Yes, it saves a lot of money. I am trying to convince my husband to do the same because he works in Philadelphia and goes out to eat every day. But he refuses to budge. He says going out for lunch is what he looks forward to. Oh well cant win em all.

Oh. I am not sure what to say, Cassie. When I have a major decision I take some deep breaths to clear my mind, then think of the different scenarios. Whichever one I feel most at peace with I feel is the right decision. But I also tend to froth at the mouth and panic when faced with a major decision so I'm not really a good person to come to for advice.
