OMG, that looks like my old house in Canada! I'm not kidding you. Except that I don't have leather chairs. And my fireplace had flames. :P But it had that stonework and the colour of the wall was the same. I miss my old house. :crying:

In fact we have decided not to even talk about moving until this weekend - although I woke up this morning thinking - we are moving, I need to do this and that and blah blah blah - (after dreaming that my Niece and Nephew were kidnapped by aliens - they were returned safely btw).

   I was in the middle of a yawn when I was reading that sentence, and when I laughed out loud my ears plugged up and then they popped and I snorted.

Bits and Bites!!!   I'm learning spanish now, in the same manner. Instead of french on the reverse of everything, it's spanish. :D

I kid you not folks, I miss Second Cup like nothing else. I met the most amazing folks there, including the owner, who is one of those dudes who goes above and beyond. Just last week I phoned him to check up on him -we remained good friends- and he told em that he had just sponsored one of our barista's sister from Albania on a work visa --- this dude is awesome. He's also dead good looking and single.

poisson. When watching iron chef we always wondered what they were talking about when they would say CUISSON!

Then my Husband, being the brilliant person that he is, looked at the stove one day (which says temps de cuisson) and figured it out.

Does that make him bilingual?

That's nice when you meet friends like that. :) I'm kind of confused about your old boss sponsoring someone on a work visa, though. I thought an employer had to prove that they were not able to find someone within the country before going that route?

Hubby got one this week.. it's a horrific pay cut, but at least it's with a very stable company and the prospects after his 1st year are promising for advancement..

For me.. just had a great job interview today and the manager was like "please please please do well on the testing " mouthing behind the HR dept staff as I went in to do the mandatory Excel and data entry testings... The HR girl said I did "fantastic" so hopefully I'll get offered this position.. PRETTY PLEASE!!

It's probably the temporary foreign workers program. For people like the people Len knows I think it's a really nice opportunity for both the employer and employee. For lots of others it's not working so well - not a surprise, so we end up paying for workers advocacy employees, aside from the fact that the poor employees have a terrible time of it so far away from home.

I really don't know how he managed - but I'm sure it was all within CIC regulations - this is an honest man (yup, they exist). I once thought of hooking him up with a cousin of mine, but then the stupid b1tch went on and got pregnant by a married dude.... not very smart, IMO.
