OK, interview went fine. The lady-owner is about 34 (my calculations) and seems pretty laid back. I don't know whether she'll offer me the job, but I am seriously thinking about the pros and cons of the deed. I do want a part-time gig to complement our income, but I'm not sure about hanging out with whiney babes all day ..... hmmm.... we'll see.

As for Alexandra joining the Canada forum....    We love yah girl!!!!

Excellent, Lenina! Guess you'd kinda have to be a laid-back kind of person to want to have whiney babes all around you every day. If it's offered, go for it. If you find it's not a good fit after giving it a try, you can always resign. Hopefully in a screaming fit that has you hurling off your apron and yelling "I can't TAKE it no more!" as you run crying hysterically to the door. After all.... it's these kinds of lasting impressions that we want children to take note of so that they get that "AHA" moment and will log it away for future reference. You may even find a team of Mom's following you. I know I would be.

Hubby and I are meeting a friend from Canada at Foxwood Casino today!! ;) YIPEE!! She's going to gamble, we're going to eat!

I'm just excited to see someone from home!!! YEAHH!HHH!

If she's paying, make sure you eat before she gambles. Enjoy your time at Foxwoods.

I realize I'm not Canadian, and my SO is German (but they like to drink too!) but it's much calmer here than OT, and I don't speak German fluently enough to fully understand the German thread.

May I play here occasionally? I'm tired of people being pissy to me in OT for having an opinion :)

But of course you can, Jun!!

See, how can anyone say the Canadian forum is hostile to outsiders?

I wanna be an honorary Canadian too. :( Yesterday a girl from Vancouver told me that she considers basically Canadian, since I have a similar accent and grew up with Canadian TV in Minneapolis. "You're so close anyway," she said.

Welcome to fold Alex, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. If you don't take yourself too seriously, this is the place to be. We are honoured by presence.

I'm not sure I understand it myself, Alex. I find the Canadian Forum people so nice and a lot of fun. My personal feeling is that some people in this life are unhappy and naturally defensive, and that colours their thinking when they read posts. The other unfortunate thing is that this media of communication has its drawbacks. There isn't the auditory tone of voice, facial expressions, and body language available to convey the subtle nuances which assist in understanding meaning as there is in person. So those who are quick to judge will do so without questioning whether they are transferring their own state of mind, mood, or mental outlook into their interpretation of what's being said.

Phew. Okay. I SO didn't mean to write all that. For those who didn't get to church to hear a sermon today.... so ends today's lesson. Go in peace. *makes sign of cross* :hehe:

No we're not! :P

All that genuflecting for nothing, dag nab it, I only came for the wafer.

I hear you sister. Hey! We'll see what and if I get offered the gig ---- not really super excited about it since it involves food prep and that grosses me out a bit. I just wish I could grab a real barista position somewhere NOT CRAPBUCKS.... for pedro's sake, this is Seattle, java land!!!!

Had you used for Cephas' sake you might have been on to something. If Ms. Anzaldua is correct how do you explain ebonics then. :P She may have a point though. Have you ever tried to type utterances ineffable using a standard keyboard? I really do wonder if Scarbucks might actually be a viable business interest.

Was brother, was. Hermana Anzaldua left this mundo de mierda some years ago, not without leaving behind a whole new generation of Chicana-Latina and Lesbian scholarship on race and gender relations. She is my inspiration, along with bell hooks. She was all for ebonics, for Spanglish, etc.
