:dance::dance: carlacoffee! :dance::dance:

g'morning all. i read an interesting story in ot, can i still feel canadian?

Charles to be Canadian you must get more Canuck cred. First you must change your name, henceforth you are not Charles or Chuck but C-Dog. Get a proper conveyance, preferably an Escalade but an Old Skool pimpmobile is good. Drive around in a '77 Lincoln Continental and people look at you differently (something I know from personal experience). If you're over 30 you can't wear a Kangol hat and/or have your pants hanging down, you need a sky (a purple bowler will do or get one of Eugene Whelan's old hats  ). Get lots of bling (gawdy rings and chains are good) and a cane with an overly elaborate pommel. Come to think of it....Look at how Don Cherry dresses, if that's not OG I don't know what is. Don't hate the playa hate the (good, old, hockey) game.

BTW, one more thing, less George Jones, more Geto Boys.

first thing i need is a decoder ring to figure out what you are talking about

C-Dog, be careful what you ask for.

I only have one rule for men: Beware of females with sharpened cutlery or heated kitchen utensils. That part about being a little gay almost sounds like the script of a porno.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

One of my favourites was one where Peter Gzowski narrated Admiral Phipps attack on Quebec City. Gzowski narrates, "Phipps weighed anchor and the AMERICANS set sail."

I phoned up one of Gzowski's aides and asked he could narrate such #######. I think they pulled it off the air shortly thereafter. In case you're wondering what the problem was, it's simple. Phipps attacked Quebec in 1690 and the US declaration of Independence was in 1776. In the short Phipps is wearing red and the US has never had red as a colour in any military uniform. The Continental Army wore blue and fought the redcoats. Finally, the US never attacked Quebec. The British Admiral Phipps did. Some moron was asleep when they wrote the copy. I wonder how many innocent school kids memorized this.

Fascinating.

It sounds typical of much written history: the guy with the money write his story (his-story...history, get it? Haha!).

I remember each time I have spoken to an elder and how their rendition of times I may have read about was so different from the written word.

I am of strong belief: bring back story-telling; where people sit around and listen to an elder tell it from their elder and so on and so on...and we get to repeat it as fully and as possible, with full on integrity.
