I subscribe to the Washington post Sunday paper, and the only reason I do that is for the coupons!! paper costs me $1.50,but I usually get far more in Coupons!!! Dont even read the paper!! I do read the comics!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Hey I meant to ask for those of you already in the States, anything similar to the airmiles program? I have 'purchased' so many things with my airmiles, in fact my new camera is on its way to me right now! It's the second one i've gotten from them, plus my blender and 2 different phones, etc etc.

Good afternoon everyone. I'm too late for coffee so I'll just have a water.

We get points with our bank debit check card. Whenever you make purchases using the credit portion you get points towards a whole pile of things..... just like airmiles.

Part 1 of the visit was really nice, and a lot of fun. We took them shopping in Sanford and they were thrilled with their purchases. The sales right now are crazy good. We dropped them off at the airport yesterday to catch their cruise, and then we'll drive down there next weekend to pick them up.

This was the conversation I had with my husband the night before we took them to the airport:

Him: "I'm sad."

Me: "What are you sad about?"

Him: "Our guests have only just arrived and now they're leaving again."

Me: "But we'll see them next weekend."

Him: "Yes, but then they're leaving again."

Me: "Well, now I'M sad.":lol:

Yeah, blah! Any chance they will move to Florida!?

So after the cruise, you pick them up next weekend and then are they staying for a week or?

No, they definitely won't be moving to Florida. They have a great life in England. We pick them up at the port next Saturday morning, stay till Monday in Delray Beach, come back here, then they fly back out Wednesday evening. I probably won't see them again until August 2009. We have a wedding to go to in England then.

Oh, a trip to look forward to, that is always good!

Oh and I was going to ask you about bugs, so - what kinds of bugs do you deal with and how about snakes (just something that came to mind when I saw some documentary the other night how pythons are invading the everglades!)

Hmm yes, perhaps we should devise a quiz for Charles.

1. Charles is Baffin Island in Canada?

Haven't had to deal with any bugs. I got bitten by a mosquito, once, on a deck at a restaurant in St Augustine. Haven't seen any snakes as yet. There's a lot of little lizards, but they're just cute. One got into the house by accident, once, but I managed to get it out. It seemed relieved. Honestly, I've dealt with far more wildlife in Canada than I have in Florida.

Well that's good, i'm not all that scared of bugs really, just curious. Sounds like my Sister has more to deal with in Nebraska! Their house is 120 years old and had been empty for a while when they moved in. So far they have had fleas, bats, mice and a opposum even got in to the kitchen once.

(plus they don't even live in the little house on the prairie, they are in town)

Wow! That sounds like fun to me!

As you probably know we rarely get any coupons at all here, we used to.

Hey I meant to ask for those of you already in the States, anything similar to the airmiles program? I have 'purchased' so many things with my airmiles, in fact my new camera is on its way to me right now! It's the second one i've gotten from them, plus my blender and 2 different phones, etc etc.

We get points on our American Express card. Last summer we 'cashed' in a lot of points and bought me a Trek hybred bicycle. We got it totally free, shipping included, and it would have been several hundred dollars in the store (hehehe I test rode the one in the store to choose which one I wanted from the American Express catalogue). They have a catalogue that they send out regularly to show you items you can purchase using your amex points. We pay a lot of our household expenses through the Amex card and then pay the Amex card off in full every month so we keep those points rolling in.

As well, with our Bank of America accounts on our debit cards we enrolled in the 'get the change back' program - which means that for every item purchased using the debit card, the round the amount up from the cents to the nearest dollar and deposit that amount in your account. For example, you pay $36.22 cents you get 78 cents deposited in your account, spend $12.15 cents, you get 85 cents deposited in your account, spend $22.98, you get 2 cents deposited. Those pennies can really add up.

Delta and Continental both have airmile programs as well.

I also have Kroeger and Ingles 'cards' that are swiped before I buy my groceries and I get a discounted price for certain items. I also have Petsmart and Petco cards and get savings on pet food, plus they send me coupons in the mail that I can redeem at the store. These are really good values! Many stores have a similar type of 'Rewards" programme.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
