Hello, my friend is a US citizen and wants to visit her husband abroad with her baby and needs to apply for a US passport. When applying for the passport, if the husband is not here, can she alone apply for the passport or does she need any documents from her husband abroad to let her apply for the US passport? What does she need to apply for the passport at the post office?

Since her husband is not present, she will require the listed father to fill out a completed DS-3053 form and have it notarized.

Also note, she will have to take the baby to the Passport Office for the appointment.
